Looks like garbage. Overpriced garbage at that. Stick with one of these: http://www.americanmuscle.com/05-07-...r-intakes.html and get a tune.

OK, thanks for your input but... it's not enough to just say it's garbage, I'd like to know why it's garbage and what a good CAI has that this one doesn't. Anyone can make a claim or have an opinion but please back it up with an idea or some reasoning.
Thanks,
Alex

For the most part, they all do a whole lot of nothing. It actually looks very restrictive, and I don't recall seeing that it requires a tune. If it doesn't need a tune, then you can rest assured that it is doing absolutely nothing. On top of doing absolutely nothing, it costs more than most intakes that do require a tune.

All depends how much air the stock mass air sensor can handle most after market intakes not all pull more air then the computer can calculate which causes it to stutter or die.

Because Ford spends MILLIONS in R&D for these vehicles to optimize performance, economy and driveability. If they could put on a CAI that would increase all of those things all the while only costing a few hundred more per car they would. They would just pass the cost onto the consumer. The reason they don't is because most CAI's don't do what their manufacturers claim. You get the bulk of any power gains you see in these vehicles with a tune, supercharger, turbo, headers, heads, cams, etc. The stock airbox flow more then enough for these engines. Very few if any of the CAI's you see on the market have any actual design and research put into them. Most are made of metal tubing, have a flimsy or ineffective heat shield and a oiled filter that has been proven to allow more dirt into the engine. Also the best aftermarket CAI's usually have a specifically designed intake tube to optimize air velocity and turbulence, seal off engine heat from the intake charge and a filter that actually filters better and flows more then the OE one.

Might wanna try cleaning this up so its understandable ![Screwy](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/screwy.gif)
Most "gains" from a cai are in the more breathable filter. Do a filter change and your right up there woth the cai's. And the whole "optimized flow" thing is a joke.... sure, smooth flow till it hits the throttle body, intake runners, and the valves opening and closing rapidly.

Ford intake system is fantastic, absolutely the best that has ever come from the factory. It will actually keep air charge temps slightly cooler under some conditions than an aftermarket cold air. Where the aftermarket cold air shines is in airflow to support higher horsepower. On the dyno we typically see 9 to 12 horsepower over the stock airbox, mostly above 4,000rpm. A drop in filter is not going to give you any real measureable horsepower. This is regarding the 2013 models.

I have to agree 100 percent with you texastboneking. You would pick up similar or better gains from leaving the intake and rest of the engine alone and just running a well made tune. for about the same price. Now I agree with tj@steeda with a FI or turbo charged car a CAI makes more power for those applications then it makes sense.
