Best CAI?

Lee, if your looking for a better tune than Steeda's. Contact Doug@ www.bamachips.com. Not only are his mail order custom tunes, so much better. But his tunes also get rid of those dreaded throttle hang/lag issues as well.
I've been running Doug's tunes with my Steeda CAI, for well over 2 years now. And couldn't be happier with my Mustang's performance.
I also guarantee you'll feel the same way, and will not be disappointed.

I put the Ford Racing CAI in my 08. The unit is beautiful, fits perfectly and gives you a changeable filter. It is the same unit as is used in the Bullitt. The tune isn't very aggressive -- but it meets CARB if you have to have a smog test.

Shortly after becoming a member of TMS. I discovered how great Doug's tunes are, and shortly afterwards. I contacted Doug about his tunes to find out if they were also able to improve my overall throttle response. And prior to purchasing his tunes, he sent me his 93 Torque tune via e-mail, to try out for free.
Never the less, shortly after trying out his Torque tune. I was so amazed by my improved throttle response, that it seemed like I almost had a throttle cable again.
Needless to say, that was all it took to convince me that Doug's tunes, are simply second to none. So I went ahead and proceeded to purchase Doug's 93 race tune, and when I had asked him what I owed for the 93 Torque tune that he let me try out. His exact words were, the 93 Torque tune is your's to keep.
Now that's what I call real customer service. That being said, I've been a very satisfied customer for well over 2 years, and have no intentions of turning back.

Lee, I first started out with the Steeda/SCT canned tunes, and although it was a noticeable improvement over stock. They did absolutely nothing for getting rid of the stock, drive by wire throttle lag along with those annoying hanging idle issues, during deceleration.

That's incredible that Doug gave you a tune for free. Doug rocks!

From what I've heard you really can't go wrong with any of the CAI's mentioned. I've heard great numbers from the Steeda, but I've also heard that the Bullitt CAI has the best seal when the hood is closed since some of the hood liners have a spot marked for it. What is the size difference between the Steeda and the Bullitt? And for those with the C&L or JLT, how good do you think the seal is when the hood is closed? I like the look of the Bullitt CAI, but when I get my CAI I'd like to get it as a package with the tuner.

As for how good the seal, when the hood is closed ? I've had no sealing issues with my Steeda CAI for well over 2 years now, and the seal continues to remain nice and tight.

When i asked Brent from Brenspeed about what CAI intake makes the most power he said they were all about even with his tunes.
I have the S&B intake with the 93 tune and the car runs great.

Interesting. I thought the weakest part of the Steeda air box was the trim that I got with it. All it appears to be is something to keep you from cutting yourself when you're working near it. But since I'm not under the hood, I can't vouch for it's sealing ability. Maybe they changed the design .

I can also vouch, that my Steeda CAI along with my bamachips 93 race tune, and Steeda UDP's made 293 RWHP on the dynojet !

I am driving a different beast...squealing tires through first and second was never a problem, but now when cruising in second you can just step into it and the wheels will spin! And what can I say about the sound, it's like the dogs of hell are under the hood growling at me...

Now if you really want a heat shield, get a KB supercharger. It relocates the entire air filter outside of the engine compartment behind the front bumper, below and in front of the engine. And given that heat rises, I'd say that's pretty shielded.

As far as I know, Steeda hasn't changed the design. But I can definitely vouch for it's airbox sealing ability, as there's slight indentation marks in my stock hoodliner, from the airbox's rubber seal trimming.
