BBK headers and catted x pipe
BBK headers and catted x pipe
The install was pretty straight forward and not to labor intensive. I probably had about 6 hours into it. Taking my time.
I had a slight problem In that the x pipe was a newer proliferation than the headers were. At some point BBK changed their header collector size to a larger opening. I bought the headers new in the box from a member here and I guess they were about a yr or so old. Not complaining at all.
So the BBK x pipe flange was to big for the headers. A couple of calls to BBK and they sent me out a kit to fix it up.
I had to cut the ends off of the x pipe and slip on the kit. The other thing is that the o2 sensor extensions could be a little longer. They are strung pretty tight right under the trans pan. I going to look for longer ones. BBK states they haven't had any issues with the extentions.
I am very happy with the results my MPG's seem to have gone up by at least 1mpg and the sound is sweet. They seemed to smoth out the idle and improved low end grunt. I kept the stock cat back for now. I don't want it to loud at this point.
The folks at BBK were very helpful. I recieved the xpipe and the fix it kit pretty quickly. The fit on the headers was great and I didn't lose any ground clearence.

My hooker headers were a pita due to them being used... We took the starter off motor mounts, ac compressor, and steering shaft... 9-10 hours for me... We Came across a ton of hiccups.... So your driver side header is not hitting the steering shaft?
Im getting bbk long tubes and a catted x next month too! I can't wait, glad to hear it wasn't too troublesome. I'm planning on doing them myself as well. If I buy the headers and mid pipe at the same time from the same place I'm assuming I will get matching flanges. I know that their xpipe uses 2 3/4" pipe and is said to be for "high performance" and "built motors" but I wasn't too worried about it, just wondering if you noticed any negative changes from that? And also I was wanting to know how loud it is with the stock mufflers bc I have muffler deletes now and am trying to get an idea of whether I'm going to need new mufflers or have to run stock ones for a while or what? Thanks man, congrats on the install, and... Video+1?
