Will changing the stock cats to the Bassani cats cause the check engine light to go on?

Who has a good tune for that? Diablo? When I do that tune would it turn off the check engine light? Also, I would have to put the stock cats back on before inspections...do you know if that would turn the check engine light back off if I didn't turn it off with a tune?

The diablo tune fixed it from running lean? Did the check engine light come on for you and if so did the diablo tune turn the light off?

I called up Bassani and they told me that they have not experienced the cats causing the check engine light to come on. They also said that the system did not require a tune but it could be done. The last thing they told me which I did not know until now was that although the cats are not smog legal in NY, new cars or cars bought this year are exempt from emissions testing for 5 years when being inspected. Anyone else hear this?

I could only dream. I know in Pittsburgh, if you drive less than 5,000 miles (??) between inspections, you are emmisions exempt.

I did some further research myself on the DMV website and it says that new cars are exempt from emissions testing if they are within two years of the model year of the car. I guess that would make me exempt until 2007. That's not as good as being exempt for 5 years but I'll take it.
