Bama Tunes 93 octane performance, race & torque

I was kind of dissapointed with the towque tune. The race is great on the highway and the performanceis great all around. Was anyone else expecting more from the torque tune?

So I guess I will ask...... what exactly were you expecting from the torque tune?

I really like the torque tune, feels like it throws you in your seat harder to me. I also get 3rd gear chirp with my automatic running the torque tune. The performance tune won't chirp 3rd for me. The performance tune seems to be easier to get used to and is good for running around town, seems easier to start from a light without sounding like your trying to race the poor guy next to you. The torque tune has a touchier throttle in my experiance with it. So easing on it is pretty tough hehe.

Well you have to grow those, a tune can't give you that no matter how hard you try. However, if you really want your car to have ***** the only way is to buy these

All I can suggest is try the 2 different tunes out. As you probably have already read here and elsewhere that the Torque tune gives you more power in the lower band than the performance tune (I think ) I tried my torque tune the other day for the first time and I did notice a difference. Not enough that I would say it blew me away, I just stick with my performance tune. I'll try the torque again if I go to the track.

I ran the torque tune for a few months, then tried the performance tune for a few months, then went back to the torque tune. I get about 1 mpg better with the torque tune and I prefer it over the performance tune.

So the torque tune puts emphasis on the low end, the race tune on the top end, and the performance tune is a little of both?

Pretty much. I don't have a race tune so I really can't say (other than what I have read). I just have a 87 perf, 91 torq and 91 perf. Would have gone with 93 instead of 91 if they didn't recently close down the only place that carried it that was close to me.

Also, it seems that people either get the 87 or the 91/93 tune. Why doesn't it seem like people get the 89 as much?

I don't think Bamachips has an 87 Perf. tune... I have a 89 Perf and 92 Torque/Perform. All I can say is that my car definately pulls better at higher speeds ie: 50-80mph with the performance tune. For some reason I really can't tell THAT big of a difference between the two, just at higher speeds.

I have a 87 performance tune. There isn't a 87 torque tune though, think Doug said there's just not enough "play" room with the 87 octane to create one.

Also the diffrence between the race and performance tune, if I remember what Doug wrote correctly, was throttle response, possibly the tip in too. It's supposed to be very touchy. So the performance was better suited for every day use.

If I miss quoted I apologize but I'm 99% sure thats what he wrote, there was a thread where he explained the 3 tunes somewhere here.

You are correct. I knew it was one of the 87 tunes, just must have forgotten which one

Running my car at the track (07 GT / 5 speed manual), the Torque Tune is always faster than my 93 Performance. Why, I have no clue, but it is every time I've run it.

The differences between the two are subtle. I think many here over-exaggerate the differences between them. I did not get the "pin you in the seat" difference from them either. What I got was a car that went from running 13.69 bone stock, to 13.43 with a nasty spin through 2nd gear due to poor track prep.

On a really warm night this summer, best I got with the 87 Performance was 13.75. Both Torque and Performance were in the 13.5x range.
