Hi any input would be appreciated. I have a 05 GT convertible with 1500 miles. Has done this 3 times. When stopped for a light when you press on the gas revs go up and car acts like it is neutral. Apply brakes wait a moment and car drives normally. Computer problem or mechanical problem? Will any code be set? Thanks

Wilson, my auto has never done this and you should take it back to the dealer right away. Maybe it's low on fluid, but only the dealer can check the level as there is no dip stick on the 05. Take it back.

The 05 Mustangs computers adapt to driving habits, including throttle and things like that. The mustang is designed so that if you stomp on the pedal from a stop, it kinda chills for a second and then takes off. If this isnt your problem then I would also recommend taking it in. I think the problem your experiencing may be related to this post

Take it in, it sounds like it's low on fluid.

I get a clanky sound when I put it into any gear except neutral. Just a noisy transmission. I also am having problems with my converter not locking up on time and releasing...

Could be the nature of this tranny - I had the same one in my '01LS for years and while it was duarable and I had no "major" issues - it did have small "nits" that were irritating. Sometimes the hesitation at start then bang into gear, sometimes at freeway speeds if I would let off the throttle then reapply it would bang for some reason...IMO....these newer trannys are too complex and think too much - which causes hesitations at certain shift decision points. Mine was eventually reflashed which helped some - but always was a bit finiky - just the nature of the beast.

Hello everyone and thanks to all that replied. I took the Gt to the dealer today and they checked the fluid level which was fine and found no codes. The service manager and I did stop and go in a residental area for 45 minutes and could not duplicate the problem. So we will start a log everytime it does it and note miles weather conditions etc. And see what develops.
