I went home this weekend and visited the dealer where my GT is ordered. They had both a Mineral Grey GT with stick and a Red Fire GT with auto on the lot... Needless to say, it was pretty easy to convence the salesman that I REALLY needed to test drive a stick BEFORE my car is built. Just to be sure you know!

The salesman handed me and my brother the keys to the stick car and told us to have fun and not to hurry back. (yes, I LOVE that dealership!) We did head back after putting about 80 miles on the car and about 100 or so on the rear tires...

After we got back, we ended up taking the auto car out for a quick refresher run. Only about 10 miles, but enough to the put the auto through it's paces.

Conclusion: I make the right choice in ordering the stick. The auto is a VERY good auto, but the car is a LOT funner to drive when you are rowing your own gears!

If you are buying the car because you have always wanted a MUSTANG, then get the stick. If you are getting a V6 because you like the style but want to keep insurance down and fuel economy up and it will be your daily driver, get the auto. If you are not an enthusiest, the auto is definitely better for a daily driver. If you are an enthusiest, the stick is better for the soul!

I had ordered an auto due to my wife didn't want a manual since she hadn't driven one in years. I got tired of waiting and talked her into getting a manual and since I brought it home yesterday I can hardly keep her out of it! She really enjoys driving it and that is great since it was what I really wanted all along anyway. You really feel like you're driving the car.It is just a feeling you can't get with an auto. I have nothing against auto and I realize a manual is not for everyone, but it is just my preference, especially in this car.
