Does my auto GT have a 5 speed + overdrive (torque converter lock-up) or is the 5th gear the overdrive?
I've had auto trannys that were 4 speeds and then "shifted" into od in 4th by locking up the torque converter to minimize slip. By turning the od off, the car would shift up and down through all 4 gears but not lock-up.

 

5th Gear is the overdrive. When I turn off OD, I shift through 4 gears.

 

i have never known that about this car. wow. so really its only 4 speeds?

 

Yes, like the 5 spd manual is only 4 speeds if you dont count overdrive.
