Another Cam Thread!

Alright i may be interested in doing hot rod cams in the future, but refuse to pay for the installation. I would rather save for a supercharger(which i probably wont) than pay $1500 for the whole thing. I have never done any internal engine work, but have would consider myself to be decent mechanically. Most of my experience is with suspension, but i have done headers, engine mounts, intake(lol), shifters and stuff like that. I am hesitant to do the cam install because if somehow something goes wrong i do not want to risk my motor. I cannot afford to replace if it were to blow(well, maybe), but i wonder what are the chances of messing something up? It is VERY technical? I dont mean to sound like i dont think i can do it, but rather how many first timers had a smooth and easy install?

My understanding is that as long as you follow the instructions very carefully and have lots of patience you can do it. The biggest issue I would think is moving anything timing related by even a fraction or dropping a valve and that would require you to pull the heads and then you might as well retime the whole engine.

I can't vouch for the install yet but I'm going to document it very carefully and see how it goes.
