Air Bag for single rear springs.

Someone in here mentioned that he uses an airbag for one of the rear springs.
I believe he pumps it up at the track and deflates it when driving around town.

1. Who was that guy, and would he mind giving out more info??
2. Would this idea work for a Vert as the rear springs are not the exact same as a Coupe?
3. What airbag (pn) do you use?

THX,
Shark

Why would this be a good idea to use on only one spring??

This is a kit Eibach sells for our cars.
The single airbag helps plant the one tire.
Someone on here was talking about doing this months ago.

I'm wondering how much this would help, given the fact the GT's have a Limited Slip rear end. I've never had any problem with only one wheel spinning. Any time I spin the tires, it leaves a nice even set of 2 black marks on the pavement

the thing is even with both tires going, the car seems to torque to one side, so the air bag helps keep the right side of the car from going too low during launch so the car is more leveled and more power goes to both wheels

The air bag is installed in the rear passenger side coil spring. The pressure that you inflate it to is experimental.

Or, some guys that are running this setup will tell you what pressure to run at the strip to start with. You will have to adjust from there based on your own setup.

One guy I know is running a Fox Body at 800hp. He has his inflated to 80lbs. Runs in the high 8's and low 9's.

I'm one of those guys who is looking to do something along these lines. Even with all the suspension work I've done, I still get some roll to the passenger side on the launch. It's not nearly as bad as it was before, but it's still there. Here are a couple vids from last night. You can see the right rear drop on the launch.

Body Roll Example #1

Body Roll Example #2

Right now, I'm looking at three potential options:

1. Install the BMR Xtreme Anti-Roll Bar.
2. Find a stiffer spring for the right rear (but it has to be a non-lowering spring).
3. Go to a right side airbag as discussed in this thread.

p.s., Anyone know if the Eibach kit mentioned above uses lowering springs or not??? I do not want to lower my car.

Man.............I love watching your videos

I'd do the air bag first............cheap.........easy to install.........adjustable and it should work. Looks like your dropping about 3 or 4 inches on the rear passenger side.

The guys were working on another race car at the shop today (1500hp), full rail frame. The were testing the adjustable rear shocks and adjusting them just buy turning a **** on the bottom of the shock. Pretty effective, I saw the brand name but not well enough to remember it.

I'll pay a little more attention next Saturday.

Thanks John. I have adjustable shocks already. The right one is set at full firm... the left is 3 clicks softer.

The kit does say that it lowers the car.

Someone in here recommended the airbag awhile back.
I thought it was you Don.
He even recommended a part:

But as I have a vert, I don't believe this will fit my springs??

I have these on my 69 Chevelle. You can preload the passenger side spring to prevent wheel hop and to help launch your vehicle straight.
