Aftermarket wheels and rotor clips
Aftermarket wheels and rotor clips
When I had my aftermarket wheels installed, they did a great job of balancing them out, but I still had a little bit of side-to-side steering wheel shimmy at 65+ mph. I read on here somewhere about removing the rotor clips, so I did that this morning. Now ALL my shimmy is gone.
If you're running aftermarket wheels and have a shimmy, you need to do this mod. Just pull the wheels off, pry off the metal clip that is slipped over one lug stud on each rotor, and you're good to go.

Yep! some aftermarket wheels come counter bored for the clips and some don't..........Mine did! I still removed the clips..
Apparently not if he had the shimmy. The clips aren't necessary anyway. They're only on there to hold the rotors tight during assembly. Some wheels do and some don't. My BBS wheels do, but even BBS suggests on their website that the clips be removed.
