After MGW Shifter Install... Loud, Noisy

Greetings,
With the help of my friends lift we installed my new MGW short throw shifter. The install was easy with the lift and thanks to the video instructions I installed the rubber boot before putting the shifter in place.

It shifts great, but it is much much louder than stock, is this normal?
I hear noises now that I never did with the stock unit.

My car did not come with any sound insulation around the shifter from the factory so I used the supplied dynamat, as well as the 2 pads that arrived with the shifter. Everything is buttoned up tight but I'm still hearing loud whine from the transmission in 1st & 2nd gear (I can deal with that) but when I'm between 2500 & 3000 RPM in any gear I hear a sort of fast tapping sound. I went thru the trouble of putting the stock shifter back and test drove it again, sounded normal. Then re-installed the MGW unit and heard all the noises again. (You have no idea how easy thing are with a proper lift)

I love the feel of the shifter, but is there anything I can do to reduce the noise, this is a convertible so I'm pretty used to noises, but this noise is out of the ordinary. Here are the completed shifter install pics regarding insulation.

You probably will hear more noise with the MGW. Just the way it is attached to the trans. Only tip would be check contact points between the shifter assy and the floor and also the console. The less parts touching the floor and shifter, the better.

I noticed the same thing when I installed my Pro 5.0 shifter. Sounds like there's a wolverine under my *** haha. I'm guessing the extra road and operating noise and is normal... LOVE the shifter though

Some more sound insulation around the housing will help but due to the way the shift mounts and the fact that it is spring assisted, you'll hear a more metallic noise over the stock shifter. But, in my opinion, the MGW shift is amazing.

The MGW shifter does transmit more drive-train noise into the passenger cabin. I was one of the first beta users of this shifter and one of the first to complain about it. You do get used to it though as the MGW is a great shifter.

The tapping noise you hear could be an exhaust leak that's being transmitted though the shifter.

I didn't notice much more noise over the stock shifter. Give MGW a call their more than helpful.

I was on the pre order list and I didn't notice any more noise when I installed mine. The only thing I noticed was how much better it shifted ...
