Well.. I decided to put 93 octane in my GT to give it a test. I read on this forum and another that a magazine (aug) reported that Ford tuned the car for 93 and uses knock sensors to back timing off when running 87. Some people say the computer CANT adjust for the 93 and some say its designed for it therefore meaning it can take advantage of it.
Im not going to say I got more power out of it. If I did it would be a placebo effect and nothing more.
First I just want to see if anyone else notices this with there stang. On 87 octane as I used to use, I alwasy noticed that acceleration would not always be the same.. Sometimes you could step on it and get jammed in the seat and other times (in the same conditions) something felt different like it didnt pull as hard or felt funny up at top of the rpms. I cant explain it but it constantly drove me nuts and made me test 60-90 or 40-100 on a stopwatch to make sure I was still within earlier runs... Those times would be slower on occasion but not by much. Just felt different.
Well now that I have switched to 93 I havent come across the same thing. It would seem that the power is alwasy there and more consistent. Could just be me and my stang but I thought I'd let you guys w/o a tune know what it does for me. I've been running it for about 2 weeks w/o problems and gas mileage has stayed the same.

You are correct that it does come tuned with a 93 octane spark table. It relys on the knock sensor to pull timing accordingly. I put 93 octane in before I got a SCT tune and I noticed the same thing. The acceleration was much more consistant and there was just a hint more power. I was able to beneft more with the 93 octane with a tune though.
