? for the 3:73 gears folks
Hey Rich look on modfords for a calculator. SHould be able to find one that you enter in your gear ratio and tire size, etc. and it gives you your final drive ratio. Wiser men than me can explain better but you probably get the idea.
How many of you that have gone from the 3:55's to the 3:73's wish you had gone to the 4:10's? How noticable were the 3:73's from the 3:55's?
I had 4:10's but due to a poor installation they failed. I liked the 4:10's BUT I couldn't get any traction in first and always felt the 1st gear was almost useless. I'm thinking about trying a set of 3:73's and with the aluminum drive shaft that might be a good set-up.
I wish there was a good set of 3:90's out there! I think that would be perfect for me~

The difference between 3.55's and 3.73's is so small it's not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere. Plus, I haven't seen that many gear swaps done right. Don't ruin your low mile perfectly working rear-end for a "fine-tuning" of the gear ratios.
I'm going to stay with the 3:55's for awhile. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. Maybe after I put the Spydershaft in this weekend it will feel more like it did with the 4:10's.
