I know it's a big tire, diameter of 29" as opposed to 27". Planning on putting it on the stock 17x8 bullitt rim. Please someone tell me if it will fit?!!!! I plan to get a bama chip so the speedo and stuff will be recalibrated, just worried about rubbing or fitting the well. I've gotten conflicting stories.

Hey nice ride! Mine is not lowered, complete stock suspension. I'm sure the 29 won't be bad then. The well on yours looked awesome with it filled up, totally retro. I hate having too much well showing. The thing is that extra diameter slows you down a lot? Ho many second's was it adding to your time?

Too much sidewall.

I want to get some 18x9 rims and keep the overall diameter the same.

Not sure how this answers the orignal post...

Anyway, Rinaldo... I'm running 275/50-17s and they are almost 28" tall. I have no drop on my car, and there is still room for more tire. I think a 29" tire would fit in there.

As far as fit goes it's only 0.4" taller than the 20" Saleen wheels.
My personal opinion is that they will look terrible on a Mustang.
With such a tall sidewall the handling of the car will definitely be compromised.
The more important issue is that it's an S rated tire which is only good for 112mph.
Your originals are a W rating good for 168mph.

Why not just drop the car? The wheelwells will look a lot fuller. Look at how much better mine looks now that I've lowered it just 1"

Grrrr! This is a retro car. The raised white letter tires in 70s mustangs and other muscle cars look bad hiney and make the car look much more muscular. So do the bullitt rims. Classic and tough. 20" rims or big chrome or spokey rims look ricey or blingy on a muscle car. Save that for a honda prelude or some escallade. I don't plan on going 150 mph lol. I just want the muscle car look or else I wouldn't even be touching the tires. I don't get how anyone can see a goodyear GT II or nascar tire and say it looks out of place on a mustang when the legendary ones all had them or radial t/a tires. I don't get all this puttin 20s on a mustang or putting those spokey black rims on it, so ricey and makes me throw up. When I'm done with my stang I'll post pics then you'll see! I just needed measurements.

The problem with your thinking Rins is that you are comparing a 1965-1973 mustang that's wheel wells were designed to look correct with 15" "rims". A 17" is the so-called "cool" upgrade to these early models.

Fast forward to today's Mustang. The wheel well is designed to fit a much larger wheel, 20" looks right with a short sidewall. While I dont appreciate this look the same as others do, it is not out of place. Our wheel wells are the largest yet and have wide fender flares to match.

I share the "old-school" eye for the car and would love to fit a lightweight 15" wheel with a tall drag radial in the rear and drive around with that kind of setup daily. It isnt good for handling though and I prefer not to take those corners at horribly low speeds just so I dont roll around.

You can call 20" wheels and low profile tires RICE all you want but it wont be too much longer before our dear Mustangs are offered with standard 19" and 20" wheels.

Yes, your tires will fit..... but I think without lowering, your Stang will look like a Off Road! Your tire side wall is about 1'' taller than stock, that means your car is getting this higher. I drive a 29,04 diameter with a 1" lowering and there is no rubbing.
