I have ***** thumprs. They sound AMAZING at idle and throughout the power band. It's best to have exhaust and gears before you get them, it's a night and day difference. The gain in power is good. Overall, for a NSR cam, I'd give them a 9 out of 10.

I just installed Hot Rods. I love the sound and around 4000 rpm you can feel them really come in. They are very driveable with 4.10 gears. I would not want to try them with the stock 3.55 gears though. I am going to add headers and delete plates later on so I can get the full effect.

Did you do the install yourself? If so, how difficult was it? Why would you not want to run with stock gears?

The car will buck like a mother ****er at low speeds. I had 331s stock. Felt like a was driving a bucking bronco.

I have ford racing hot rod cams and love the sound they lope hard and make the car shake at idle and performance gains are great with supporting mods. ford racing cnc heads, intake manifold, 4.10 gears, long tube headers, etc.

**** that sucks! So now if I want to do cams, I have to add the additional mod of gears so I don't yell Hee Haw every time I pull from a stop light! Lol Is anything a simple mod besides CAI?

Did you get the heads and intake based on a suggestion from a speed shop or something? $3600 is a lot for three boxes lol

Haha the bucking can be avoided by manipulating the throttle and clutch. It definitely doesn't drive like it did stock though haha

Yes and on ford racing website suggest these upgrades for the ultimate hp gain but longtube headears and intake manifold will give u a pretty gud hp gain. Cnc heads aren't necessary but does help alot

Yes I did the install myself. It took about 5 hours because I double/triple checked everything and had to get a replacement for my cheap a$$ Harbor Freight ratchet. It is a straight forward install. Follow directions and recheck as you go and it is easy.

Stock geard will buck with a cam.

This link is the way to do the cams.

Here is a quote from Chandler at Brenspeed :
I ran Comp Mother Thumpas and phaser limiters for a year and half. I loved the rough idle but I didnt like low rpm roughness when driving through the city. I also had to constantly slip my clutch to compensate for the roughness when accelerating because of the controlled mis-fire and the cams grind. I ran a 4.30 gear to help make up for the loss of torque as well with the 127020 cams. I removed those cams and went back to stock 8 months ago. I now run a 4.10 gear and the Detroit Rocker cams and I have never been so happy. They lope like the classic muscle car sound I love and had with the thumpr cams, yet drive like stock. I can now drive in a low gear and no longer get the lopey cam bucking I had before and also take full advantage of variable cam timing because the phaser limiters are not required with the Detroit Rocker grind

I have them and there just great in every way

Hmm no doubt. I think I'm gonna port my intake and heads myself. Or let a machine shop do it

Dude when you go to the track people flip. There aren't many s197s hooked up like ours driving around everyday. It's pretty cool.

So you have the FFRP intake?! How do ya like it? I have the hotrod cams and looking to get supporting mods, I'm going w/ JBA shorties.
Already have 4.10 and jus about every bolt on possible, looking at getting the intake.
