20" Tire Suggestions...

A few weeks from pulling the trigger on some 20" Shelby Razor Chrome Wheels for the new remodeled stang.

Thought I'd post to get everyone's suggestions on a good 20" all season tire. My stang is whipple blown, so I'm also looking for some good power traction tires. Someone mentioned Nitto 555 tires were real good, but weren't all that good in rain and cold weather. Can anyone else recommend me a good tire brand for all season and s/c application?

I have a set of Toyo T1R's 245/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rears pretty good in the rain and excellent traction.

I have the same question. I have been looking at falkens. Any one have any input on them. I want to go 295 at least for the rears .
How wide of a tire do you want on the front and on the back?

javdog,

go anymore close ups of those 285s on the rear. I'm debating how big of a tire I should go on all 4. 265, 275 or 285s.

Which offset are you going with, +24 or +40?

For the +24 on a lowered car the most popular size is 255/35's in the front and 275/25's in the rear. Any larger on the rear they start to really show how much they stick out. For the +40mm 265/25's all the way around is a good choice and could possibly go 275/35 all the way around to fill them out.

I have the same question for tire brand. My razors should be here any day now and I am leaning to Nitto since I don't have to worry about cold weather but I have heard the same thing, they aren't that good in the rain.

GoodYear F1 A/S are really awesome all-season tires with still very good dry traction and reasonably priced just above $200 a piece. But you may only get them up to 255 width in 20's according to GoodYear's website. That's a shame!

After ordering a set of 24mm Razors 20's over the weekend, I had ordered a set of staggered Nitto 555's. But I got unsure whether they were the best choice so I got my tire order on hold for now. I'm torn between this set of staggered Nitto's and a set of 255 GY F1 A/S all around.

havent decided if I'm going with the 24mm or the 40mm offset. I'm thinkin maybe the 40mm offset so it gives the car a meaner stance. but the tires are going to be the same all the way around so I can rotate them when needed.

I just put on the 20x9 silver Razors (40 offset) with 245/40/20 General Exclaim UHP allseason tires and they just tuck inside the wheelwells. Lowered with Steeda Utralite springs and D-Spec shocks and it does give the car a meaner stance. Love the tires, great on dry or wet pavement and rides wonderful for 20's, also does not have the cold weather bumping (ftat spotting) in the mornings. I also run Nitrogen air in them. You can read some reveiws on the tires at TIRERACK.COM.

So whats the largest I tire I can run out back with a 20x8.5"(38mm offset) rim? By large I mean widest.

I'm currently running General Exclaim UHP (Ultra High Performance Summer). Picture of tread below. I get alot fo compliments on the tread. I'll see how they do with traction with my up coming blower.

Ride comfort is ok... But I also have the car lowered on stock shock/struts. I think thats really killing my ride. Hey 2007redfiregt. Did the D-Specs help alot in the overall ride?

If you mean "wider" by "meaner", then the 24mm is your choice. The 40mm is as close to stock an offset as you can get, meaning tucked underneath the fenders, not on the edge like the 24mm.

I stopped by discounttire last night and for a 9 inch wide rim he suggested 275/35/ for the rear and 245/40/20 for the front. I asked about some thing wider for the rear and he said not on a 9 inch rim. I priced falkens 452 series 165 a piece for the fronts and 230 for the rears. I have seen them on ebay for a little less from discount tire direct.

Thumbs up

YES, the D-Spec's are worth the money. There adjustable and took out that tight bounce you have now.

I plan on going with 265/35 on all 4 for my Razors. I was thinking Nitto's but am undecided yet. The vendor sent 4 Shelby versions so we had to send them back for the standard ones.

More pictures. I like the 245/40/20 because they are a 1'' taller tire and they fill in the wheelwells a little more. Almost went with 265/35/20 but prices of tires were about $50.00 a piece more.

Hmm, your running the exact setting I was looking into. So you have the Steeda Ultralite's and 40 series tires... So you have no rub or anything in all driving? Like hitting the fenders? I have these 35 series rubber and its pretty harsh. Then again I also have the stock shock/struts. I NEED to fix the harsness of the 20's. Love the look not the ride.

Thats right, no rubbing, no noise's what so ever. Go for the 40's and you like the look better and rides much better.
