2 Borla Cat Backs for the Price of 1
I ordered and got a set of Borla "S" type cat backs from an online company last Friday. These are not the Steeda restamps. Put them on had a few probs posted in another thread but everything appears good now.
Came home yesterday and there was another set of identical catbacks sitting on my porch. I was like
I called the credit card company and I have only been charged for one set.
Then I got an
I can
A. Call them up and inform them of their mistake and have them pay to send them back.
B. Call them up and tell them I changed my mind and send them back to get my money back. (In other words the ones I have on the car would only cost me the shiiping for the return and the 20% restocking fee)
C. Sell them privately to someone at a very nice discount here at TMS or at one of the car shows I would be going to in the future. (I would have to deny if they ever tracked down they sent me two so I don't get charged for the second set.)
D. Don't do anything and wait awhile to see if they realize their mistake before I make my choice of the above.
Any Suggestions?

Sorry guy's but you should call them and let them know they screwed up and send them back. The fact that you even asked tells me you know what the right thing to do is.
(A) is the correct choice here.

another way to look at it is, if you decide to keep them or sell them, sooner or later the company will realize they are out a set when they do their monthly inventory (if they are smart enough to do this). You may have gotten a deal now, but they will make the money back by marking up the rest of thier items to compensate for the loss.
I'm assuming that you bought them from the RPM Outlet, since your talking about the restocking fee, which i got screwed by and will never buy from them again and another member had an incident where they sent him 2 C&L intakes from RPM Outlet, so he sold the one and profit on it, so sell the Borla's!
Federal law says that if something gets delivered to you that you didn't pay for you get to keep it without getting charged. The nice thing to do is let them contact you and send you a call tag to have it picked up. Regardless they will try like heck to get it back.
Hold onto it and let them contact you. If it came from RPM outlet, don't send it back, give them a taste of their own medicine for screwing people over. If you didn't sign for it they can't prove it was delivered. Play stupid. Hope they don't find this thread online

Man from the sounds of it I'm glad I did not order them from RPM. It is another company. When I ordered I asked where they were being shipped from and was told they could not tell that because there were multiple distribution points around the country.
The first packing slip indicated where they were sent from. I wonder if they screwed up and sent another set from another distribution terminal. I can check when I get home tonight.
I don't mind waiting and selling them so much as I'm just afraid of it coming back and biting in my wallet financially. If I sold them it would be certainly for far less than they cost me so both myself and the buyer could get a windfall from their mistake.

I would call the supplier. Chance are at some point they will notice their mistake and try to charge your card again.
Who knows, they may be nice and tell you to just keep it to save the shipping costs (doubtful though).
Either way, your karma will remain in tact.

I have had this happen twice in the past. Not for car parts and with two different vendors. Both renowed for their distribution systems BTW. go figure. In both cases, I selected choice A and in both cases, the supplier insisted that only one shipment was sent and would only issue an RMA if I was returning for credit. In both cases, I held the item for a couple months to see if I was double billed, never was, so sold them. I did my part, I made sufficient effort to return the product. It's there choice from there. I'm not a lawyer but I believe there are some nuances to the law Dustin references, like maybe not having placed an order at all. If you don't want to risk being stuck, I'd suggest you take option A and go from there. Based on my experience, there's still a good chance you can sell them later.

P.S. Yes, I am a lawyer, but this is not advice to be relied on and I suggest you seek your own legal opinion, blah, blah, blah.
Let them know that you have it. If they want it back, they'll send someone to pick it up.
If it is something small I can understand, but this is an expensive exhaust system.
Plus, if they find out that they are missing it and come calling, and you've sold it, you're going to be worse off.
I figure Borla is a great company that designed a good product for your car...... the least you can do it help support them by being a good, honest customer.
I'd choose (A) obviously.

If you end up keeping them... are you going to start a TMS auction for them?

I feel an HONEST person would not even have to ask the question. What should I do? I am very disappointed with the remarks from some of my fellow Mustang owners with their response to the posting. I may well get chastised for these comments but quite frankly I do not care as I am an honest man and would never try to beat someone out of anything. I have to look at myself in the mirror
A very similar thing happened to me a few months ago. I got two sets of axlebacks. I got them from a company that I had done business with a couple times, and planned to again in the future. I had no intention of screwing them. Just to avoid the hassles/costs of shipping them back, etc., I sold the second set to another local '05 owner for exactly what they cost. I then contacted the company and had them bill me for two sets.
Frankly, my integrity is worth a heckuva lot more than a measly few hundred bucks.
