17x8 vs. 17x9

Ok guys, I am wondering what are my tires options with the OEM 17x8s and, say, the American Muscle 17x9s. I'm going to supercharge my '08 so a tire upgrade is probably a good idea. How wide can I go on these two different wheels?

I'd say 255 on the 8s and 275 on the 9s would be the best fit.

275s on the 9s? That would be sweet! 275/45?

275/50-17s would be my choice. Or if you want to run drag radials, the M&H 325/45-17s fit perfect on a 17x9 (they aren't a true 325... they are 10.3" wide).

Thanks Don!

Yeah, at the track I definitely plan on running some ET slicks or M&H drags.

I run the M&H DRs on the street... and M/T slicks at the track. I couldn't get any traction on the street with street tires.

I run 275/40s on the 18x9s with no problems.
