most of the autos that race at my local track LACR palmdale run 14.5's
Do you think the altitude there makes them run that slow?

Palmdale is at 3-4k feet, I dunno if it would make THAT much of a difference at that altitude.

During the summer the times here in Phoenix blow for obvious reasons, gotta make my inagurial run here soon now that it's nice out.

That is REALLY slow though. That has nothing to do with autos... but I think has more to do with the drivers. When my car was basically stock, I was getting into the 13's for the 1/4 mile... and that's in the middle of the summer in southern Louisiana.

3-4K feet is getting up there... plus its warmer. I can see a distinct performance difference on the two 1/8-mile tracks here in San Diego.

One (Qualcomm) is a temp track set up in the parking lot. It is close to sea level and generally cooler, but usually with a lot moisture in the air (it can also make for a slick starting line if dew settles). The other (Barona) is inland, away from the ocean, and is at a couple thousand feet elevation and is typically much warmer; which unfortunately negates it's better surface. In general, my car runs 0.050 - 0.150 slower (in the 1/8-mile) at Barona, than at the Q. So it wouldn't surprise me if the air at 1/4-mile Palmdale was hurting performances by 3/10 or more.

Last night at Qualcomm, we had good air (dry and cool) for the first time all year, and my car performed better than ever. I made 11 runs total, and every one of them was quicker than my previous best (which was 8.702). My best run of the night was 8.560 sec (~13.29 in the 1/4).

Tony... definitely get out there on a cool/dry evening and let her rip!! It won't get any better than that.
