WSJ - Hyundai Takes a Bold Stand in the Compact Race (vs. Focus)

Except for the fact that it's not particularly fast, the Hyundai Elantra is a bullet, and that bullet just whistled past Ford's head. Or maybe grazed its skull. Hyundai's freshly redesigned compact sedan—handsome, roomy, richly detailed and stacked to the rafters with standard and optional amenities—would be the best car in its segment (among cars such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Chevy Cruze and Volkswagen Jetta), but for the inconvenient existence of the 2012 Ford Focus. The Focus outpoints the splendid Elantra, but by a margin that makes Bush-Gore in Florida look like a landslide.

I don't doubt it. Went looking at cars yesterday and my relative was very impressed by what Hyundai has done with this car compared to what is currently available from the competition. I also have to give Hyundai props for this car being rated w/the same EPA mileage ratings across the sedan model line regardless of trim level and equipped wheel/tire combo. Plus it's quite roomy inside given the exterior size. Watch out if they ever build a coupe/hot hatch version with the 2.0L turbo 4.
