Its a dumbassed comparo designed to generate buzz by ****ing off Mustang fans and getting Sti fans to wet thier pants in joy which worked pretty good on that witless dolt Scobyej22.

So if someone had $40K to spend and wanted a sporty car that is comfortable on the street, yet capable on a race track, this is a good comparison.
I think what they probably should have mentioned, however, is the collectability of the Mustang is a big plus, and also a huge majority of people would consider the Mustang to be the much better looking car.
I'd rather have the Shelby personally, because of the styling, and the fun of rear-wheel drive. But, I give props to the STi at the same time, and recognize that it's also a nice car that would be a blast to drive hard.

The Mustang is the standard bearer of affordable performance-car comparos. Everybody wants a piece of the Mustang mystique. Don't believe it? Check out Hyundai's(?) new so called Mustang fighter concept... Just remember, everybody wants to be next to the "one" who is the best!

As much as I like the Shelby GT the comparison does illustrate that with the special edition Shelby you're paying mostly for looks/name over the base model, while with the STI you're paying almost exclusively for extra performance over the base model (and maybe even worse looks).
With as many special editions as the Mustang has, there really aren't many things in between the Base GT and the GT500 in terms of all out performance. You get some extra HP, exhaust, basic suspension, not much beyond what most people do to their base GT. There's a real gap there I think where ford could offer a real performance value with a warranty.

There are several comparisons with Shelby GTs. I think this is silly since a Shelby GT adds almost no performance to the stock GT but throws the Stang close to $40k. Concerning pure power you may compare the STI with the stock GT and you'll find a difference of $10k. Nonetheless this is a ridiculous comparison. People who consider a WRX STI might look for an Audi quattro or an Evo IX but they just don't think about Mustangs or Camaros. For the Stang-lovers it's the other way round.
I like the look, the sound, the raw V8-power and the looks and congratulations from completely strange people everyday. Everybody loves the Mustang (even more in Europe!) but no one even recognizes a Subaru, regardless of its engine.
You just can't compare a faceless ricer with the American legend.

Yea that is a stupid comparison. Shelby looks way better. I don't mind the new evo's but someone needs to make a sweetass 2 door all wheel drive car. AWD feels so different to drive I really like it.
