Work sucks on saturdays!!!!!
Working everyother weekend, 12 hr sifts, and no overtime (no such thing for me) I am getting per diem though so I can't really complain. Just over two more weeks and I'm heading home too!
My old hours at the station where 10s and 14s two 10hrs day shifts then two 14hr night shifts with 4 days off. The shifts rotated and we had groups ( grps 1-4) so group 1 would works days and group 2 would follow and be on nights usually on group 2s 2nd night group 3 would be comin in for thier 1st day shift.
Goes like this. If you where on group 1 and you 1st shift started on Monday days you worked Mon, Tues days and Wens, Thurs night then 4 off then it would go Tues, Wens days and Thurs, Fri nights and 4 off. It keeps moving forward until your nights move into the weekends and then your days but then you get some weekends off. If your shifts fall on the holidays wether it be christmas, thanksgiving or the 4th your working. 90% of the fire depts run this way unless they run 24hrs shifts.

Rotating schedule right now, every other weekend is a three day and I never work more than three days in a row. It's not a horrible gig, but 12 hour nights get old.

Yeah 12 hours is a bit long in the tooth (wouldn't mind working three twelve hour days and a 4th half day though), that reminds me of when I was a department manager - 6 to 7 days a week with 13+ hour days. I think my longest day was 17 hours - had to recieve and stock the product in the morning, help with production during the day and inventoried the product at night.
