My buddy just got a 97 LT1 Vette - 350 H.P.'s I think. Him and 2 others say it will waste my 05 GT.
His is an Auto mine's a 5-spd, and I can drive it. I'm hoping to take him to the track this weekend, do I need to make some mods first? Right now we're both basically stock.

I found these numbers for a 1997 Corvette. not sure if it is LT1 or other
0-60: 4.7 1/4: 13.3
Hey! Wait a minute. 1997 didnt have an LT1 Version!
There was only the base model with the LS1 engine
Edit again: the Auto gets 5.05 on the 0-60

This guy isn't that fat, he's your typical short, spaghetti-bellied, middle-aged Itailian guy who would drive a 97 Vette. I told him his license plate should be GRSY WOP (greasy). And before the censors cry foul, my last name ends in 'O' too.
OK, looks like it's time to get an exhaust or a computer tuner to help me gain a little bit before Friday.

You will probably do just fine! that old vette is tired i am sure after all it is a bit longer in the tooth than your mustang. The vette also has a 2.73 rear gear if it is an auto and a 3.42 if it is a six speed, so if it is an auto you should spank him pretty good, and if not he will have to do some work to keep the tires from spinning, but it ought to be pretty easy to outrun him if he dosent have any tricks up his sleeve.
I raced a 98 Vette about a month after i got my car, and ran away from him off the line, and in the end beat him by a good 4 car lengths. I am sure if he knew how to really drive it he could have gotten me, but the vette is not necessarily geared for drag racing..
good luck man!!

Its going to be close i believe. the LS1 power plant is potent and Chevy A4's arent slouches. make sure you dont spin, but you dont bog off hte line and its going to be a very very close race.
Get some drag radials on the 05 first and that will help tremendously.

UPDATE:

Gave him a little spanking on the local high-speed roads... bastard went out an bought a 98 C5... torch red too. Nice car, but now I think the tables might be turned.
