I have a 300ZX vert with an auto and it seems pretty fast... although it's probably the sound from the Flowmasters. No fart sound here.
It's pretty quick I guess, not sure how it'd fare against a Stang as such.

The weight is fairly close. The Stang has a much better transmission. The first 3 gears in the stang are much closer ratios than in any 4 speed auto. That combined with the substantially higher torque of the V6 Stang should give it an edge over the 300zx.
I have seen low 15s for non-turbo Zs, but those were 5-speed cars.
Keep in mind, the fairly rev-happy 300ZX regardless of tranny has 3.69 gears in the pumpkin, so it moves through the range pretty quick.

Straights, probably pretty close, maybe the Stang off the line then the 300Z once things get rolling. Big, lower revving 2V 4.0 vs smaller, higher tuned 4V 3.0.
Throw in some curves, lumps and stops: Not even close, 300Z has a vastly better suspension and brakes. Where the Mustang went for bargain basement affordability in the underpinnings, Nissan tried for and came close to creating a Porche-level chassis.

Not true. Yeah, the Turbo with HICAS handled pretty alright, but a buddy of mine had a '92 N/A 300ZX (the model in question) and even he admitted it couldn't handle or brake nearly as well as my friggin Focus. Identically tired, a V6 'Stang vs. a N/A 300ZX will perform very similarly in a straight line, but I'll bet the pony would have the slightest of edges in the curves.
