The SHO is a bit big and boaty for my tastes -- fast and very nice, but not the real sports sedan the tighter 335i is.
Now if Ford had a Fusion SHO to put up against the Bimmer...?

Let me preface my post by saying that I've never driven an SHO Taurus -- nor any of the other Taurus models. I have, though, driven my mother's 2010 335d and the 335i loaner car she had while she was waiting for her car to arrive. While the SHO may be quicker, BMW definitely makes a wonderful car -- perhaps the nicest car I've ever driven (which isn't saying much, but I digress).
The only thing about the BMW that stood out was its ride quality and the fact that, in my opinion, it is no better than my GT with its newly-augmented suspension. The BMW's steering and superior seats, though, definitely won me over. And for what the 2011 Mustang's are going for, one could easily purchase a 3-Series BMW.
Rhumb's spoiled 'cause he's got an M3!

Indeed, make it all wheel drive with the ecoboost 6 and we'd have a sports sedan to rival any!
I think the Taurus SHO is more competitive with the 5 series BMW, though the bimmer's are a good deal more expensive

I think it really depends on what you want/need. I sampled a Taurus SHO for the first time last week and I was genuinely amazed with the car far outstripping my expectations. In every respect the SHO is a great effort and makes for an excellent, full-sized executive express if that is what you are in the market for.

The SHO, besides being a diehard for Ford, I am tall and enjoy a roomy car as a DD. The bmw's seats seem low to me and they aren't as roomy. Just how i feel in them. If it was my garage car bmw for sure.

Drove the SHO a couple of weeks ago. Wow I was impressed. 110 mph came up
pretty fast. I had a lot of fun on that test drive. I'm sure the salesman was happy to make
it back alive. I'd have bought it right then and gotten a tune and kicked
up the boost, but I need another $40k car like I need another hole in the head.
