I was going about 55 on the highway when a newer model BMW M3 raced up behind me. He got beside me and started revving the engine. I signaled 1-2-3....go time. I revved the engine up to 5 grand and dropped from 5th to 3rd and dropped the clutch. My tires squealed and I was thrown into my seat. I tell you, I don't know if that rich kid knew how to drive or what because I looked down at my speedo and I was at 125 in 4th gear and that kid was 3 or 4 car lengths behind me. I slowed down, he came up along side of me, gave me a big thumbs up and got off the exit.

Man those M3s have no nads.

He probably backed off. An M3's no slouch. I would've backed off before 125 too.

I'm pretty sure an M3 would smoke a GT... but it also has a lot to do with the driver.

Good kill Dustin. An M3 was one of my first kills also.

They are not as fast as I expected, or the 05 is really underestimated. I pulled 3-4 car lengths on a 40MPH 2nd gear roll vs a 2004 M3, was pulling away easily in 3rd then I let off. He was pissed! Literally one of the only times I caved to a stoplight challenge...

Nope. The M3 may have more horsepower but we have a thing called displacement. It really helps.

heh.... the E46 M3 will own our GTs. if it was an M3 like in the pic below, they are much much faster, its more than just HP, its how the power is transfered to the ground.

I have driven both, as you can see, and let me tell you... the M3 is fast and agile in a way that our mustang just isnt. My mustang is more fun to drive, but even in a straight line, the M3 does 0-60 in the low 4 second range. Its not even funny how fast it is.

But if it the old model M3.... thats a different story. There you have an advantage.

Last two cars I had before my GT were both BMW M3's: they are faster than a Mustang GT... I frankly believe this is a fact...
But then the factor that can make the difference (sometimes in a very big way...) is who's behind the wheel: in this case is "you spanked a guy in an M3" but if someone with your same exact driving ability would have been in that M3, I frankly doubt the outcome would have been in your favor, IMHO...
I believe the M3 to be an overall better car than my GT but if you look at the price difference...well the Mustang comes out as a winner IMO...

No offense, but either he wasn't racing or he was a horrible driver. My friends bone stock M3 ran 13.2X@106. From a roll, our cars would be toast.
