You might hit those speeds at night in Tenn. but here in Ga. around Atlanta you really stand out to the cops. They live for night speeders. You can go almost as fast as you want in the daytime here 85 to 95 because everyone is doing it and they can't shut down 6 lanes and arrest everyone. Only don't try it at night they are out there and you don't have a chance.

Amen to that. Heading west on 20 during the daytime I can pretty much cruise at 90 and have no fear. Once the sun goes down though I keep it less than 10 over.

Jason, West on 20 huh, are you outside the perimeter around Douglasville area? Did you by any chance get your car at Bleakley Ford?? I am the other side on the 400 around Dawsonville and Lake Lanier. Gotta watch the State Patrol around here.

I traded in my 03 Mach1 for my 05. The only mods to my Mach1 was a K&N filter and Borla Stinger Catback. Like said earlier, the Mach1 pulls very strong in the 3-6000 rpm range, mostly due to it being a 4-valve and having special cams. I agree that a stock 05 Mustang GT would not have much of a chance beating a stock 03/04 Mach1, unless the driver of the Mach1 was very inexperienced. However, quickness isn't everything and I like latest generation of stang much better.

I too had a mach before my '05 GT.The GT is better out of the hole, but the mach has a better top end.Not by much, and I think a '05 with a reflash would be the machs equal.Plus,we don't rattle and bend like the older stangs.

The Mach1 downshifted and allowed compression to slow him down. Probably wanted you to come along side for some thumbs up. An 05 GT is not going to beat an 03-04 Mach1. No Way.
I race with Cobras and Mach1s all the time. They want some action and want to see what the 05 can do. And besides, when you scream on by, the radar gun guys tag YOU instead of Burt Reynolds.

I have no mods on mine but i've read some reports on stock gt's that dynoed 270 rwhp, maybe i got one of those straight from the factory
he didn't seem eager to hang out and wave either, he pulled off the highway onto an exit shortly after.
btw, it was also 3 am and he had dark tint so I couldn't have seen him even he wanted to give me a thumbs up.
Lot's of fun anyway and I'm glad i got to race another stang

In the black of night... you could have turned off your lights and got off on an exit if you saw a police car.... ha ha ha j/k
Anyway.... Nik can drive....
A couple of quick runs from 0 to 100 to 0 again showed me that a couple of months ago...

I have had quite a few races (not in my Mustang, in the old days when I drove nothing but big blocks) where I backed off at 120+/- and the other guy ALWAYS goes screaming by so they can save face. I usually tapped my brake lights so they would know they just lost though Racing up to about 120 isn't as risky because you get there pretty quick. I'd hit that and then back down to the speed limit quickly. But trying to stretch it out to 130, 140, +++ is just inviting a disasterous accident (you just never know when someone will pull out in front of you, they can't tell you're doing 140) or a whopper of a ticket. The ego trip isn't worth it, let the other guy zip by if he's determined to do so. That may be what happened in this case.
Some insurance companies treat a 100+ speeding ticket the same as a DUI conviction. Something to think about!
