OK... roush stg2 vs shelby GT-C vs saleen S281... all beated by a standart Mustang GT
Hey guys, I read a review of these cars on the motor trend mag.
now, everyone stated the best bang for the buck was the normal Mustang GT...
but what I can't understand is the acceleration times and 1/4 mile times of all of them...
back in 2005 I was hearing the mustang GT would do well launched a 4.9 0/60 and the 1/4 mile in 13.4 or close...these guys from the magazines had 3 years to learn how to launch a mustang...
now, 3!!!... 3 years later... 2008 comes...AND...
2008 roush stg2 (standart motor and 3.55 rear end)
$46,989 bucks and...
0 to 60 in 5.1
0 to 100 in 13.4
1/4 mile in 13.8
2008 saleen S281-3V (which have 3.73 rear end and supposedly 335 horses...)
$49,613 bucks and...
0 to 60 in 5.1 (what?? the heck??)
0 to 100 in 13.0
1/4 mile in 13.7 (are you kidding me??)
2008 shelby GT-C (which have 319 horses 3.55 rear end)
also in my opinion, the better looking of the 3...
$48,675 bucks and...
0 to 60 in 5.1
0 to 100 in 13.0
1/4 mile in 13.8
they all have 5 sp manual transmission
NOW I GRABBED A FEW OLD MAGS...BOTH MOTOR TREND TO MAKE IT HONEST and FAIR...
august 2005 the Motor Trend bullit facts (which was just a simple GT painted green since the bullit was not on sale or even secured it was coming yet)
2005 Mustang GT(300 horses 5 sp 3.55 rear end)
$27,395 bucks and...
0 to 60 in 5.1
0 to 100 in 13.1
1/4 mile in 13.5(faster than any of the 3 45 plus 08's) 0.2 and 0.3 faster...
2006 Mustang shelby GT-H(the rental car)(325 horses, 3.55 rear end, AUTOMATIC)
from september 2006
est. $32,000 because they are only for rent... $149/189 per day and...
0 to 60 in 5.0
0 to 100 in 13.00
1/4 mile in 13.6 (still faster than the saleen, roush and shelby but slower than the 2005 GT)
also those tests were performed in colder weather than the GT and GT-H for the time of the year...
Now, if you asked me... I would get a 2005 GT, for $20,000 and use the other $27,000 for 1 supercharger, a 10k super bike brand new, and the other 10k I could get me a truck, or a jet ski, or a trip around the world, or spend it in Vegas surrounded by professional ladies in like 2 days....![Headbang](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/headbang.gif)
I think Salleen, roush, and even Shelby need to step up the plate, and since they are charging SO much efin money for NOthing, offer a better product...
the saleen is specially Ugly in my personal opinion, (no ofense to any owner of one)
this is more a request to the "pro" tuners to wake up and give us a car that we would happily pay the extra money to get...
come on, a 35k subaru
from a dealership will beat any of these cars any day...
HOw can that happen...
All I can say is that I am a real happy camper with my Standart GT...
Where are the real deal tuners for mustangs for a fair price??
how about 6 speeds, leave the motor non S/C but forge metals and raise compression? how about a real rear independent suspension...
What happened to all that?
It is sad to think that these guys are tricking us with plastics and decals thinking we are like the kids that drive those rice machines...
Come on Guys, I know I am not the only one that thinks the same way here...
now, everyone stated the best bang for the buck was the normal Mustang GT...

Why does everybody keep acting suprised by this comparison, including the mags? This isn't the first post I've seen on this item.
I don't know about the Shelby and Saleen but all Roush did was change the suspension and add cost, change the interior and add cost, then add the weight of the body kit and add cost, and if you have ever lifted one of the wheels they added alot of weight and added more cost. Other than the suspension for handling nothing should make the Stage 2 out perform the other cars.
Although I enjoy my Roush, I think everyone that has a Roush knows there was more bang for the buck if you just bought a stock GT and did your own mods. You don't buy a Roush for the bang for the buck.

well, but you have a stage 3 which is supercharged and I am assuming has more stuff and work put into it, I guess it is worth it that way because you get a roush with all the whistles, my thing is that these people are doing pretty much NOTHING to the cars and selling them for a lot of money, at least the 1st stages of them.
I do respect people that still pay huge money for them for the name, but what calls my attention is that they are not giving a better overall product...
not so big of a deal anyway, but it did rise my eyebrows when I saw the #'s
I would pay for a Shelby like that one, just because when mr shelby straights his legs they will be worth more money I guess...
But could be wrong also...
still from those 3 the shelby had the best looks by far (just my opinion)
and yes, I have 1 of 134000 mustangs produced on 2007, and you have 1 of 6 produced in 2006 :P
it means something when you talk about exclusivity, I agree on that too.
Still, all mustangs are good looking thats why we have them

You'd have to figgure in with extra hp you get less traction at the start. Did I miss the trap speeds?
That said I still think, and even more so now with incentives and no more dealer mark ups, the plain ol' Mustang GT is the best value.
