Burke0011,
Your lag is NOT normal. I have driven two auto GTs (about 80 miles on the first and about 60 on the second) as well as two manual GTs (about 40 miles on the first and coming up on 4600 miles on my Baby!). The auto DOES have a slight amount of lag compared to the manual but it is SLIGHT. If yours is hesitating 1 to 2 SECONDS before it reacts, you have a problem. Well, you CAR has a problem. You need to go test drive a few more autos and see how they behave. I bet you will find they are a LOT better than what you have described.
Of course, if that is the case, then you need to find a dealer that will actuall LOOK at the problem and go from there.

See I believe the lag problem lies with the darn PC being so smart it 'learns' your driving habits - which is why folks talk about disconnecting the battery. When I first got the car (and my brother got his), I don't remember them doing this. I can understand disconnecting and starting the car over again from scratch..... but when you drive on normal surface streets all the time, unless you drag from light to light, the car will adjust to stop and go driving. No way around it.
Both that you drove didn't even have 100 miles on them so that's probably why you got the experience you did. I guess I could disconnect the battery to experiement... then again we shouldn't have this problem so......
Stooopid compoooter......

My wife has an '05 Maxima 3.5SE 5-spd auto. I have a '96 GT 5-spd manual ('06 on order!). Anyway, she can smoke my 96gt with no problem. The '05 Altima 3.5SE has 250 horse not 265 like the Maxima. I love our Maxima but give me a Stang anyday!

Has anyone (Alternative Auto?) broken through the Spanish Oak throttle lag wall so we can drive out autos the way they SHOULD drive??...

Alternative auto indeed has a tune out specifically for the auto, no lag what so ever from what Ive heard... Someone on here was going to AA to get the tune, cant remember who it was though.
Here is there piece on the auto tune. 20 hp at the rear wheels with tune and carbon trap removal.

oh ya altimas are real nice..untill it stinks the CAT up into the motor and you need the whole engine replaced. My dealer is a nissan store too, and i cant tell you how many new altimas ive seen gettin new motors. nissan is the biggest p.os. car on the road. they may look nice, but mechanicly they are sub-par. i wouldtnt drive a nissan if it was given to me.

I have an auto and have had the car since December. I do not really feel any lag in the car when I get on the gas, she really seems to respond very quickly. I have enjoyed the car since day one, don't drive it everyday so the smile factor is always there. Not real mods to car yet, only a K&N drop in filter.

oh geez i just sold my Alti, i loved it, until i got the 05..if you all think your Stangs have given you problems and have alot of TSBs, the Alti has you all beat, it was an 02 so it was the first year of the new engines and body style.
the worst thing that was happening to everyone was the crankshaft sensor was failing on people, some while driving. although mine did fail, it didnt fail while driving..that was just one of many times it was in the shop for repairs/recalls.
they are good looking rides but in a different field than the Stang
