Just sold my 13 yr owned '79 Vette and now looking to get back into a Mustang. Both my wife and I used to own Mustangs! I had a '79 white hatchback out of College and my wife had a '66 back in the early/mid-70's. We only met 6 yrs ago.

So I'm starting to look for used GT Convertible 5-speed manual and love the new retro look 2005 & forward. I want to keep the cost down (of course), so started looking at 2005's. Then I figured perhaps for a few more $K we can get an '06 or '07. Is there any preference here on what year 2005-07 may have the best options or holding up better in repair records? thanks.. Tom

 

From what I gather 2005 and 2006 are identical in every way, I think 18' wheels were available in 06. In 2007 Ford made a couple of minor tweaks to stiffen the chassis for the GT500 this was passed on to all Mustangs. The further down the line you go the more options became available. Things like navigation, heated seats, better shifter, different wheel packages all became available in later model years. As far as performance and reliability is concerned it is pretty safe to say that they are pretty much all the same, pretty good by the way. Good luck in picking one of these up I too am thinking of getting one since prices are starting to dip quite a bit.
