Lancer Evo vs. 06 GT

One of the guys on my hockey team has an Evo and so we had a little fun after our game last night.

At no point did I feel like his car was faster but I did notice that when I shifted from 3rd to 4th he would pull on me a bit until 4th wound up.

We hit it from a roll at 60, then from 80, all the way up to about 120.

I really wanted to go from a stop, but we didn't have the opportunity. He has a fast car, but I think the Stang is faster, then gain I have a few mods, I dunno about him.

What model is his? If its just the standard Evo VIII, you can probably beat it. It runs about 5 seconds 0-60, but its strength is from a stop because of the AWD. If you start the race at a speed where you wont be spinning your tires, you'll be in a much better position to win.
The Evos run mid-to-high 13s in the 1/4, so you should be able to beat that pretty easily. He may pull out the hole quick, but you should be able to gain on him from 2nd gear on.

But if its the MR, forget it. It gets to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. I dont know what your car is running, but that would be tough to match. The 1/4 mile would be closer, but i still dont know if you could catch him there.

In a straight line, ok. But if there's a curve...

The MR uses some aluminum un the roof to lighten the vehicle, lighter wheels and a close ratio 6-speed trans. It is better handling but will not by any means dropped the 0-60 times by half a second at all.

I dont remember where I heard that 0-60 number for the MR because it was a while ago. but here (http://www.caranddriver.com/shortroa...ion-page2.html) C&D lists the 0-60 at 4.7 seconds. It may not be the ~4.5 i said, bu its pretty quick. you can take their results with a grain of salt if you want, but it it what they printed.

True, but the road we were on was pretty straight.

Pretty sure the EVOs are lighter and more money. Then again, if you were to put on an equivalent power adder (such as the turbo they have on the EVO) things would be quite different. Let him run with the guy that just had the Whipple done. Rice would be "converted" rapidly.

In a straight line, probably pretty close with the EVO getting the holeshot due to the kitty-on-a-curtain AWD traction then evening up a bit past about 70.

On anything else but a straight road, better drive off in the other direction.

Actualy I just raced one the other day. From 20-30mph and he didnt have a chance. I only got to go once and I asked him if it was stock and he said no...that was all because we had to turn different ways.

Yeah, I felt that I had him off the line as well. Remember, in spite of the fact that the Evo is AWD they don't have much power until they spool up, plus the Stang has a really good 0-60 compared to most cars.
