a win is a win no matter how its won unless he cheated. which he did not. it doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winings Wining!

Do you happen to live your life at a quarter mile at a time also?

the smell was burning oil those cars suck, whats wrong with you? you shouldve smoked him no problem. My friend has one with the stock motor they are only capable of at most 350hp before that motor craps out (since we are here in the US) now if he went through the expensive trouble of getting an SR black top swapped in then he is capable of handling up to 500hp maybe a little more, but thats with a giant **** turbo churning at least 20lbs of boost, with a lot of engine mods done to it, but even then the high end torque isnt so great.

also did you stop racing at 110mph when he took off, if so then who ever was ahead when you shut down won the race.

I hope this is not a matter of thinking a stock 240 is anything remotely resembling fast. Obviously something was done-pretty extensive if it can even show detectable accelleration at speeds over 110mph. Stock they are dogs.
Stock they're only 140 horeses, so yeah, major plumbing work was goin' on there.

I just made up for that loss .... Since that day I had been kind of depressed. So when this guy on a R6 signaled a race I went for it. The race was short to keep things semi legal (redlight to 65 mph) .... i got a slight jump on him at the start, then things evened out real quick. stayed even right up untill then end. the guy gave a thumbs up and said "nice car" ..... So now i know that darn nissan had major engine work ......

You mean an R6 as in the bike right? If you do then i think he may have been just playin with you, cus those things should do a quarter in the elevens. 120hp and about 350lbs.

The smell from the 240 was probably race fuel. Race fuel smells really sweet. They guy probably had a turbo, and maybe even some NAWS as well. The race fuel is needed due to the increased boost to prevent detonation. Either way, he was not cheating, he was just winning with a sleeper.

As far as the R6, the guy was either playing with you or sucky rider. An R6 should be about 2 seconds in the quarter mile faster, and that's a LOT of carlengths.

I've beat a Ninja before in my Nissan Maxima, and I could hear the guy shifting way early. Funny thing is, I had the exace same bike, so I knew he should have blown by my like I was sitting still. So I knew he couldn't ride.

Oh yeah, street racing is dangerous, take it to the track.

Wow. You would have to be unbelievably bad to lose to a stock stang on a 600cc sportbike. And losing to a Maxima??? Not that i dont believe you Brad, but its just hard to imagine people being that bad on a bike. I mean, i could probably almost keep up with a Maxima on my 250cc dirtbike.

That Maxima was weird kind of fast. I beat a lot of stuff I shouldn't have been able to, like an Eclipse GST, a few Harleys, a Grand Prix GTP, and that Ninja. Sometimes, the other drivers just suck, maybe they were running rough, or maybe there clutch was slipping, or maybe they weren't even racing and just late for work? Who knows, lots of excuses out there.

Still, 98 Maxima, about 18 to 1 for a # to hp ratio.
98 ZX6E even with a passenger is 8 to 1, so should have been no contest.

Don't feel bad about losing. after all you saw that even with all those aftermarket goods, he still couldn't catch up until he used NOS. Great job any way.

I wouldn't take this that hard. You just picked out the wrong person. If your car is fairly stock, it was a mis-match. As many ricers as there are, some of those guys put serious $ under the hood. The really smart ones do it so you don't KNOW they've spent the $. I wouldn't buy the 240 with the simple nitrous addition enough to take a stock S197. I'd say there was quite a bit more done on the car.

A loss yes. A sneaky guy with enough mods to probably stay with $60,000 Corvettes? Yup.
