Driving the wifes 2000 gt (100% stock automatic except for cat back) today and was out for lunch. For comparison sake, I drive this car to consistent 14.3's at the local track about 10 times a year.

We pulled up to a stoplight and a Legend Lime GT with a guy about 50 pulled up next to me. He gave me the thumbs up and a nod and we took off at the green. He pulled non-stop and there was nothing I could do to catch him. By 90 mph he had me by a good 3 car lengths. It was a futile race as the 05 pulled slowly but steadily on me.

Talked to him at the next light and he said he got the car last month and it was an auto and loves it but is still getting used to it. I think its time to trade in the wifes car for an 05.

Naw the wife needs an Auto. I have an 03 cobra and love it but might be tempted into an 07 cobra when they come out.

Crikey I was reading too fast and not comprehending. I thought it said trade in the wifes car for an 07 cobra....my bad.

Yeah we are seriously thinking about trading it in but they are both paid off and we hate to get new payments. Been really tough though as I like the 05's a lot and was amazed about the overall feel of the car. Im sure we will be tempted, its just a matter of how soon. I just know the next cobra will be a must have, even though I lov emy 03, I think I could be tempted.

The 05 automatic trans is a real sleeper. They shift and pull quicker off the line than a manual and the 300 HP engine is perfect for this trans. I've never felt an automatic shift like this, it lifts and pushes you forward at the same time. But when you are just cruising around it is very smooth and well behaved.

The closer gear ratios and extra power certainly made a difference in this department.

The auto is no longer a slouch IMO
