I heard the cobras of 96-98 were absoloutle torqueless dogs and the 94-95 gt could beat them. Is this true? this is interesting because the GT has more low end, but the snake has more high end. i would think the cobra would take it, but i would like some insight.

Having driven both cars, i'll give a lil of my thoughts.
The motors are 2 completely different feels. The 5.0 motor makes its trq right off idle and stays down low. The 4.6L peaks its trq about 4500-4800 rpm which is really high. You really have to rev the 4.6L DOHC to get it in the trq range. Once you get it there, you are well into your power curve and its pulling hard, as where the 5.0 is going to start falling off on power and trq. The 4.6L would walk it in pretty much any situation that I can think of, but directly off the line, the 5.0 will take more skill as it will light the tires up easier.

The 305hp is there definately... its just a really high revving motor and thats where it makes its power. The 96-98 cobra's flow more air stock for stock than any other motor ford has made (other than the s/c'd 03 of course). My car ran 13.9's @102ish completely stock with 65k miles on the clock so I wouldnt call that a slouch by any means.
It all depends on the drivers, but stock for stock a 96-98 cobra is going to walk a 94-95 GT from just about hte line out. If the 5.0 gets it off the line, the cobra will have it by probably 1 car lengths at teh 1/8th and will just be pulling good
Also whoever put 3qt's of oil is a pure moron! Mine holds 7qts even just to get it to the full mark.

Its probably not 95 R wheels, its probably 98 cobra wheels. They look REAL similar but there are a few small differences. 98 Cobra's have just SVT in the center cap i believe and the spokes seem to curve out in the middle more than the R's did. Also the 98 cobra wheels are in 17x8 only.

no, it had those gay looking chrome things, i think your car has the same ones. now it has the 95 R wheels with the R on the center cap, they are also darker than 98 cobra wheels

All 98 cobra's came with the 5-spoke wheels like posted above. If it didnt, are you sure its a 98.
Btw, the 96-97 cobra wheels are not gay looking. I think they look quite nice and are also alot lighter than most 17x8 wheels out there (23lbs a piece for a fairly large designed wheel isnt shabby)

I know this is late but I just found this site, but I know from experience that a stock 94 GT will blister the hide of a 98 Cobra. I have a 94 with 2 chamber flows and a k&n filter and my best friend had a 98 cobra. From a 60 mph kick I rolled him 5 car lengths and stayed there until I let off
