2013 V6 loaded or base gt for DD
2013 V6 loaded or base gt for DD
I'm looking at getting my first Mustang, it would be daily driver in Chicago area. Driving almost an hour each way to work.
I drove both. The V6 with the manual and the 3.31 gear was impressive for a 6! The premium was awesome. The gt was a bad **** with enough standard features. Unless I'm planning on robbing banks in the future I don't really need that much power. I'm 46 with a lot of kids, 8 total. So I'm trying to be somewhat responsible in my choice.
So loaded v6 or base gt. I'm looking at gas and insurance. I would also put a cold air intake and exhaust on which would get me to around 325 hp.

I would say V6. Great gas mileage for your commute. Possible lower insurance. Plus all the features you like.
If you don't need/want the extra power, then it sounds like you already made the decision for yourself.

That's a tough one. Is there lots of traffic in your commute? If so, I'd lean toward the V6. If not, I'd lean toward the V8.
A V6 with the Premium trim, Performance Package, and the Recaros is a very nice car while a stripped GT lacks all of those goodies, but has the sweet 5.0. I don't love the V6 because you really have to wind it up to get any decent sort of power whereas the V8 is ready to go no matter what the RPM. And it sounds sweet. I'm thankful that I didn't have to make that choice and was able to get a "loaded" GT. If it were me, I'd try to find the extra dough for the "loaded" GT, but for you the loaded V6 sounds like it's the way to go.

If you are looking at gas mileage and Insurance, there is always the new Focus ST. Better gas mileage and 4 doors and should be cheaper insurance and cheaper to buy. If not, definitely sounds like the V6 meets the priorities you set out
How about you look at 2013 Steeda Q350 Sport? You get the benefit of a V6 with power upgrades like you had mentioned, CAI, Exhaust, upgraded suspension, etc.
Check it out.. It is a very nice upgrade package on the V6, it is a serialized vehicle so the amount of them on the road will be limited, and it would also be great for a DD.
Just an option.

PM if I can provide you with some more specs on the car.

Same dilemma as I had.
Decided on loaded V6. I drive alot each week, gas mileage is important.
The Mustang ride is much softer/smoother than the Focus'.
Stupid Chicago traffic: it just comes to a stop at 1:30 Am on the Interstate 294 for no reason. And if you GOTTA be somewhere for a meeting or whatever, DON'T take the freeways, you could get caught in traffic. Take the surface streets, longer but You'll Get There.
There's traffic, then there's Chicago traffic.
So opt for comfort: Pays dividends daily.

Base v6. Gt's are great but you still have traffic, gas, insurance and speed limits. You'll have more money to spend on mods if you get a base v6. Base gt is just a stocker shell with a fancy engine in my opinion.
Premium upgrade elements can be purchased alot cheaper at other places. (wheels, steering wheel, leather, sound system) The dealers are crooks. Plus, you will have control over the look of your car. Did I mention lower car payments, taxes, insurance?
