2009. Mustang, Challenger, or Camaro?
#21
Like it's been said, it's a tough compare. Simply because we know what the Mustang brings to the table with features etc. However, we're speculating on the Challenger/Camaro.
It gets hard because we haven't seen multiple interior shots of either car. We don't have a gauge on the Camaro's pricing, or a "hypothetical" SE Stang.
I'm hoping for American Muscle to comes back in full form. I hope the American car industry comes back with a vengence....I like some import cars, but I don't want to see American cars that have rediculous mark-ups, and large American lay-offs.
Back to topic.......Camaro == blah.
It's all about the Stang and the Challenger.

What I don't get is why won't the Cobra be the Challenger's competitor, not a SE Stang? Cobra's gonna be around 40K with 450hp(?) Challenger will be 425hp for 40K.....based on what we know at this point.
Cobra == 450 hp & ~40K
Hemi Challenger == 425hp & ~40 K
Camaro SS == 400 hp & ~40K
These seem like valid competitors...why do we need a SE to compete with somethings that is obviously out of the non-Cobra range anyways?

I love all old classics, doesnt matter who makes'm it just awesome to see old muscle making a comeback, Any of them would look good sitting in the garage next to my 05' I've always been a Camaro fan only of the 67,68,69, 70-73 so I'll go with Camaro. But darn that dodge looks sweet!!! Screw it, I'll buy them all!! Time to tell the wife to re-morgage the house

The Challenger is interesting but I'm too devoted to the Mustang to switch. I hoping the Boss comes out in '09!! :worship:

I think it's too early to decide, both cars will most likely be really different than their concept versions, and the engines will probably be toned down for production. The Challenger will probably just get whatever the Charger has, and by then the Mustang should have had some new upgrades, so I'm not worried...Plus, with all the financial trouble American car companies are having, 2009 is kinda far to have those cars set in stone just yet.

I loved the spy shots of the challenger. But I will garuntee those two cars will be quite a bit more expensive than whatever Ford will be selling Mustangs for. The Camaro and challenger will likely be priced 8-10k more than the Mustang GT for comparable models, if you use current srt charger and gto pricing as a comparison.
Also with ever tightening CAFE requirements and smog regulations, I wonder if big dispacment engines will even be available for main stream vehicles. Im betting DC and GM are going to have to start making smaller more efficient engines by 2009.
Can't make any reasonable decision comparing the three at this point, plus I doubt very much I'd be willing to part with my 05 GT by then.
I do REALLY like the challenger pic's I saw, but more than my Mustang...not so sure about that.

I also wonder how much the gas guzzler tax will hit them. Remember the Shelby will probably have the same $2100 tax as the Ford GT.

What we need is another Cobra Jet. it saved the Mustang from failure in the 60's

If by 09 this is the Mustang. Then I'll bleed FORD BLUE all over again.
I will keep my Mach1's though. It would be nice to hit the Tri-fector.

In my opinion, the car is oddly porportioned in the back. The 351 design should stay in the 1971 Boss 351.

me too. and if the ethanol should come from Brazil, it'll be the same thing as gas. Remember how people say that the US relies heavily on foreign oil.
