I was driving up the Garden State parkway minding my own business on thursday night coming home from hockey. I was doing about 70 or so in the right lane with cruise control on when out of nowhere im being flashed with a guy right on my hiney flashing his hazard lights at me. I have no idea what the heck is gonig on so i slow down n let him pull along side of me cause i figured maybe something was wrong with my car n he was gonna tell me. he revvs his engine next to me and i relaize he wants to race. normally i dont give a crap but i was in a mood to have fun so we took off. mind you we were doing aobut 40 mph or so when we started. We were even til labout 60mph or so when i pulled away and when i hit 140 and he was 3 or 4 car lengths behind me i said its over and slowed back down to 70mph. THEN he got behind me again and wanted to go again. so i beat him again. he wants to go a third time. guy doesnt learn. i let him go. ive wasted enough time with him. was very happy with the car at those high speeds. she hugs the road like no other car ive ever driven.

speed kills.

a guy I knew was doing 100+ in his Carrera GT on a track. Helmet and all. Hit the wall, died instantly.

Also...pretty sure its the same in NY....but at 140....your car would be impounded for a while. Here in CA, if you are going over 120 (not sure on the number); the police can seize your property and auction it off. You go to jail, your car is sold, and your license will most likely be suspended (see my sig).

A 350z can't beat our cars. Personally, I wouldn't risk losing everything or killing someone else...or even the gas.

But hey, you proved our cars can get from 40mph to 140mph faster. than a Nissan. Your choice, so congrats

just be careful

Dude, drivng at those speeds if one of you had lost control you would be dead. Street racing is stupid, next time tell him to put his money where his mouth is and meet you at a track. Then waist his as.............

congrats on the kill, but you are crazy to drive at speeds like that.

I'm mad that you still get to play hockey this time of year.

no, what is the braking distance from 140?

and I guess you can play year round here too but I'd have to drive about an hour to Halifax, N.S.

Nice Job!

I used to live in West Orange.

The rest of you guys should get off your high horses and stop preaching to the guy.

I'm sure none of you have ever driven 140 :notnice:

That's why you have GT's and cobras. Speed limits are arbitrary and have never been shown to decrease fatalities. AT 2 am he was only potentially harming himself and the guy he was racing with. Nobody twisted anyone's arm.

at rush hour though this would be foolish unsafe and impossible on the Garden State Parking Lot.

btw my car was solid as a rock at 130
I encourage the rest of you guys to taste some of what this car is capable of once in a while.

i cant tell you the braking distance from 140 to 0 as i only slowed to about 70 but for the most part i let the car coast back down. i jsut shifted to neutral and let the road slow me down then back into 5th at 70-75mph.

Nice story, good kill. 350Z's are quick, but it seems the GT will take them, stock for stock.

Thanks again for posting up, I've been lookig for one around town to run.

Would be a horrible tragedy to have something happen at that speed... glad you came out of it ok. Yes street racing is bad and if you do it enough your number will come up. It takes a lot to resist. Especially when someone eggs you on like that... we've all been there.

Oh by the way, my girlfriend bought an 05 350z vert this weekend. Grand Touring package and all. Pretty sweet set of wheels. So I had the fortunate opportunity to test them both side by side and spent this whole weekend driving the heck out of them. Both are Manual transmissions. My impression... You wear the 350 like a glove. Revs quick and hugs the road like no other. However, there is no grunt, no attitude and thats just not acceptable. When you hit the gas in the Mustang it howls and says get out of my way suka! They really are both fun cars to drive, I don't think anyone here can deny that fact, but I love my muscle car.

I can honestly say that I was impressed by the Nissan in many ways but the Stang is still the alpha dog in this garage ;-)
