05' Coupe vs. 05' Vert
Alright, here is the story. I was driving home from the movies the other weeknd and we'll a guy that i know flys by me doing about 85 and we'll i speed up to see if he was interested in racing and he floors it. Of course my car isn't stock and his is, i wanted to see what kinda of improvement i had.. of course i zoomed by him as if nothing.
We'll he was talking to my girlfriends brother and he her brother told me that the guy said he didn't try to race, but everyone with me thought the same thing, even my girlfriend who hates me racing. and he stated "and even if we did race we would tie because the cars are the same make and model, and in the even that he did win, it would because his is a coupe not a vert".
My Question is would a Coupe Win racing a Vert because of the hard top.. You would think that the vert would win b/c a hardtop should add more weight. (Note this is in the event if both cars are stock!)

All things else being equal, a coupe will be faster than a convertible. Although most cloth/vinyl convertible tops actually weigh less that a steel roof, the added structural reinforcements add a lot of weight. I think the s197 conv. is only a couple hundred puonds heavier, but with other modles, it can be 500 lbs or more.
When the roof is removed, a huge portion of the car's structual rigidity and integrity is removed with it, and it has to be made up for in the form of heavy steel chassis modifications.

My 06 Vert Came with 3.31 Rear gears and my coupe came with 3.55 rear gears. This would factor in as well. We have not run the two cars side by side but we are going to on Nov 4th. The only performance mod is Axelbacks on the Vert. Will post the outcome on Nov 5th.
