Variety is the spice of life. I wan't to add another car in 4 yrs, but I'm not getting another Mustang unless it's got 400 hp stock.

Perhaps now the the M3's gone V8, they can stick the S54 L6 into the 1-series chassis, tone up the chassis and strip down the luxo fluff and create an M1 or M2 more along the lines of the very original M3, i.e., a bit rawer and purposeful. Use CSL tuning -- 360hp -- to put it above the 135i performance-wise and you would have, I think, a very popular hi-po model well under the E92 M3s ever steepening price.
I agree. The TT I-6 can be souped up with a CAI and chip to 360....and it already has the hvy duty brakes and LSD...it's basically an M1 w/o the name.

Anyway, yes, nice kill!

I think at some point the 335 was accidentally called out instead of the E46 330ci

A GT500? That's a bit much, don't you think? What's the weight to hp ratio for them?

The E92 M3 will do 0-60 in 4.2. It weighs about what a manual GT weighs (~3450 lbs), which is ~550 lbs less than the GT500, so figure the (non-KR)GT500 ratio is 8 lbs/hp, and the M3 at 8.33...I bet they'd be purty close in the ¼ mile, with th Bimmer taking the GT500 to 60 only because of better intial traction (less torque).

Yeah, it would probably be pretty close in the narrow confines of a 1/4 mile drag strip. While the GT500 does have 80 more hp, the Stang is also burdened with a quarter-ton cast iron saddle, pretty much all of it pushing down on the front legs. The M3, with its 50/50 weight distribution, will likely be better able to put power to the pavement better for a better hole-shot. Pull off the drag strip and head home the back way and the GT500 will quickly become a wallowing overpowered whale compared to the M3 and its Nurburgering-tuned chassis.
