07 BMW 335i vs 07 Mustang GT

07 BMW 335i
Vehicle type: front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 5-passenger, 4-door sedan
Price as tested: $44,445 (base price: $39,395)

Engine type: twin-turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve inline-6, aluminum block and head, direct fuel injection
Displacement: 182 cu in, 2979cc
Power (SAE net): 300 bhp @ 5800 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 300 lb-ft @ 1400 rpm

Transmission: 6-speed manual
Wheelbase: 108.7 in
Length/width/height: 178.2/71.5/55.9 in
Curb weight: 3616 lb

Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 11.8 sec
Zero to 140 mph: 26.1 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.6 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.5 sec @ 106 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 145 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 157 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.89 g
EPA fuel economy, city/highway: 19/28 mpg (C/D est)

Anyone own one or had a chance to drive one or go up against one. I know with CAI ,catbacks and tune I only trap around 104mph. and my best quater mile et is about the same. I also heard that some of these cars dynoed around 300 rwhp and with a ecu upgrade 350 is possible. I own an 04 325i and its no where near this fast and I had come to the conclusion I could not afford to go fast in a BMW, but that might have just changed, but I still gotta have my stang

those 335I's are under rated from the factory. They will run Low 13's stock. It's a drivers race between it and the E46 M3 stock for stock.

pretty nice but why compare a $40k car to a 25k car?

Hi to all, personally I am fed up with reading comparos of these rather uncomparable cars, but recently a Polish newspaper made a test of GT vs. 3-series.
Surprisigly they liked the Mustang better. They admitted that BMW wins almost all handling categories, but they would choose Mustang because 'it's a vehicle for a real car enthusiast' 'more fun to drive' 'stylish' 'sounds wonderful'
'for the price of the BMW we would rather import a GT500 from the States'
also they praised the suspension and said it handled very well with Polish bumpy roads. After reading it abusive words towards Ford Motor Co. come to my mind, but I won't say them aloud (You know very well what I think about not selling Mustang in Europe )

as far as the newspaper's performance numbers are concerned both cars made identical 0-100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds (both cars were equipped in automatic transmissions)

Here are the pictures :

Yeah, wouldn't a GT500 be more in that BMW's price range (minus dealer markups on the GT500's MSRP, of course)?

I'd prefer the Bimmer to a GT500, and a Z51 C6 over either.

I agree. In the looks department, the Mustang, GT500 or not, wins hands down. Just my opinion.

i'd rather have a mustang over the bimmer.

wow another luxury car...blah. living in LA/Hollywood u see a bunch of those luxury cars. Everyone and their brother has one.

and if u guys actually aspire to own a bmw one day, it's kinda sad. i chose my gt over the 3-series. the 328xi was just too sleepy.

BMW's are very good cars...far from a BAD car....

but lets get real why we all went with STANGS....bmw's just don't strike a SOULFUL nerve.

solid german performance car that has become very COMMON...as common as a honda accord....

i owned 2 of them....e36 m3 and e46 m3...so i get the right to speak about a Bmw

How can you compare an AWD 3 series BMW to a mustang GT?? The 328xi weighs as much as the GT and only has 230hp. For the money......no question the mustang gt is the better car. But as far as the idiot that said bmw's were junk.......

My daily driver is a Dinan Stage IV 540i. It puts down over 300 to the wheels. Driving around town the stang is much more fun to drive. Put me on a highway.....no question the 540 shines.... The "soulful nerve" hits from 70-150mph.
