VIR event
So I'm at VIR running the Full course today. It's a hoot! Super fast and fun. One more session, hoping to knock a bit more time off in the cooler temps. I'll post videos later. One takeaway - I need taller gears or more revs. I'm riding redline in 5th on both straights at 144... but the climbing esses, what a riot!
Ok off we go for round 4 today, pics and videos later

Just starting to track my car. I did Sebring for Memorial day and went to Carolina Motorsports Park a couple weeks ago. Some of the guys at Carolina suggested looking into VIR. It was too late this year, since I already had plans this week. I will look at schedules next year and see if I can fit it in.

Thx! Just wait till I load up the video from yesterday's grand course where I chase an actual NASCAR around for 2 laps! And yes the car did great. But the click in the steering got worse. Gotta figure that out... otherwise incredible event!!

Thx for the compliment, I dunno about hero! Haha but I try to push the car as best I can! Keep in mind the indicated speeds are a couple mph high cause my tires are smaller diameter than OEM. But new gears will bring straight speeds up! Won't just ride redline!

They are addicting. I signed up for Sebring on a whim, since I received the Steeda email with discount code just before my birthday. I had a lot of fun and met some very helpful people. One of the guys I met suggested the Carolina's event. He drives up from Florida for it every year. It was less than 5 hours from where I live so I signed up for it. Since I am just getting started on the track I like the instructional events. It is nice having an instructor in the car guiding you. I have found that my car is far more capable than I am comfortable pushing it at this point, but i notice that I was much more comfortable at the second event than the first. I plan to do 3-4 weekends at the track next year. Does VIR have instructional events or just open track days?

Yes most, probably all, HPDE's at VIR are instructed for novice and intermediate. Some groups tend to attract better instructors than others though. Audi club typically has great ones. I don't know many folks down in Virginia area tho since I mainly drive up north. But you can definitely find an instructed event there. I would like to come back down there next year. It's a long drive for me (took 110 gallons of gas to get there and back towing the mustang...) so it'll be a once a year type trip for me... but when you go enjoy. The mustangs do very well!

Thanks I wasn't sure if you were doing HPDE or open track days without instruction. I will look at the schedule for next year and see what I can fit in. It looks like VIR is only 4-5 hours for me and I have friends in NC not too far from there. If I keep going to these events I may have to get a trailer. I have driven my mustang to the two HPDE's that I have done, with the longest being Sebring which was about 11 hours each way. I like to drive it, but if I break something it will be a pain getting the car home.

Trailering is a great way to go. I always tow.
I instruct at most hpde events I attend, but VIR was just attending. The open track days are a blast, but you need some good experience prior to doing one. There are fast cars and drivers that show up!
