I wasn't able to pay attention, but the fender was displaced and the trunk was compressed due to what I can only assume was ridiculous down force.

Thanks man. It was probably the worst track day yet. But it could have been worse. 5 minutes before this happened I was doing 135mph into a huge brake zone. So I'm thankful and disappointed at the same time.
This was the last day I was planning this year, and I was hoping for much much more.
I just ordered some Boss 302 brake hoses. I have been pretty impressed with Ford Racing stuff so far. So I'll take a marginally less firm brake pedal in return for being able to complete my days with factory like reliability.
Also, dmichaels, I found someone with a more outlandish wing than yours.
Holy wing!!!
That's bad about the brake line! I guess I should inspect mine carefully. That would be disasterous at speed, glad you're ok. Any idea if it was rubbing or something?
It looks like the line was kinked. Do you think it might have something to do with the angle of the connector?

Thanks guys. Still trying to figure out what happened there. Wondering if it was the angle/length of line. But the angle is dictated by the factory metal line coming in. Here is a few originals right after everything went in. Not a fan of the angle. I guess something could have hit it too, though that seems unlikely.
My stock Brembo wheels are starting to look a bit rough. I don't clean them as often as I should and the brake dust is starting to take a toll on the finish. I am considering a set of Apex Racing Products EC 7 wheels that are on a group buy this month. The question is should I stick with the 19 inch wheels or drop down to 18 inch for street/road course use. I used to hear you needed to go to 18 due to tire availability, but it seems that now there are more than enough choices in 19 inch. Either way I plan to move up to a 10 inch wide rim and move up to a 285-35 tire. These are the wheels that I am considering:

Would you stick with the 19's or move down to an 18 inch wheel and why?
I think it depends on your final drive ratio. I have 3.73 and I think my gearing is on the short side. So I would stick with 19s and 285/35 to keep the tire height as close to 27" as possible.
Conversely, if you'd like to up your final drive a bit going 18" may offer some advantages
I have 3:55 gears in mine, but think the 18" wheels may be too small. The 285-35-19 are a bit shorter than the 275-40-19 that I am currently running, but just slightly shorter than the 255-40-10's that came on the car. I know that the 18" sizes are a bit lighter, but I think they may look too small on my car. It really looks like the tire choices for the 19" wheels have greatly improved and the prices are similar, so I will probably stick with the 19's.

The 18" wheel also allows you to run a taller sidewall and adjust the overall diameter that way. I am not sure the super-short sidewalls are really a good thing for the road track; a little more sidewall flex might actually be better?

I went from 40 sidewall to 35, and the impact I see is positive, once the wheel loads up in corners it really hooks up. Of course the compound is different too, but I'm getting noticeably better traction from 275/35 Ventus R-S3 that from 275/40 Petenza S04.
Derek, nice canards! What made you go larger surface area vs 2x smaller?

Mainly I didn't like how mine were angled previously and through studying various other canards (which probably had at least some level of CFD and/or wind tunnel testing performed), I decided to modify the shape for a larger front cross section that tapers to a narrow exit
I am doing the same on the upper canard as well. Next up is some tuft testing for the wing and the canards! See if I'm getting good flow or separation...
LOL . . . I have thought about doing that, but I think it leaves the windshield washer hoses hanging in space, plus my car is mainly a street car.
But for a track car, it's probably not a bad idea, might actually let out some heat. Gorilla Tape will probably hold up the washer hoses.
It worked Bert! I removed the insulation and made sure it didn't touch the hood using white paint. I didn't realize some parts of the insulation is puffed out. Thanks :-)

Even with a pretty tall side wall the 18's will be over an inch shorter than what I am currently running. I am not sure I want to go that small. I like the idea of less weight, but not sure going that small is a a good idea with my current gearing.

With 3.73's it's short, but depends on the track. You can find tires that are taller too, like the 285/645/18's and 305/645/18's I have on now

Thank you for the input. Based on the interest so far in the group buy, the 18's are more popular. There are 21 people interested in the 18" sizes versus 12 for the 19" size.
