AutoX
My dad doesnt want me racing my 2006 mustang GT. the problem with that is that i realy want to autoX regularly and every now and then be able to bring it the strip and a road course. I want to tackle Autox first. I know its one of the least accident prone forms of racing but i was hoping someone had some info that i could give my dad to convice him the likelyhood of adding wear to the car besides tires and breaks is mininal and that its actully a safe and fun sport. any websites, documents or other info woudl be helpful.
Look up SCCA Solo 2
Basically your more likely to get in an accident on the way to the Autocross than you are actually running the course.

Now he's saying i dont have enough money to autox... i told him the only things i will be spending money on is new tires and rims, maybe brakes and maybe clutch. erg... i wish he would look as this a a positive thing like it is instead of a useless thing i want to do!

Almost all clubs allow more than one driver for a car.
I used to autox my 72 Mach1 20+ years ago when I was a young man like you. The only thing I hurt was my pride when I spun out a few times. Drive smoothly and you can get quite a long time out of a set of tires especially if you have a seconds set to use just for autxo and track events. Do it now before kids and mortgages or you will regret it later. I still run open track and and an ocassional autox or drag race with the same Mach1.
My family has implemented autocross into the driver training for all of the kids in the family. Sons, daughters, neices, nephews etc. will all be autocrossing when they turn 16 and get their licenses. (in Mustangs BTW)
Autocross is the best way to learn car control skills. It causes minimal wear and tear on your car and what you learn there will benefit you 10 fold out on the street. Your father should go with you and I guarantee he will enjoy himself and be proud of you as you improve at the track also. You will be a much better driver on the street.
I started autocrossing at 18 and haven't stopped since. (I'm now 41).

I autocross my daily driver about 10-12 times a year, have been for the last 3 or 4 years. I also have competed in 2 Fun Ford weekends, and 2 track days (on a road course). The car is now 5 years old and still has the original brakes and clutch in it. I am on my second set of tires.
It is a much better place to learn car control than on the street.
BTW, I am no youngster, I'm 46...maybe older than your Dad.
