Apparently Multimatic and Ford had a "falling out". Last year, Multimatic was Ford funded. This year they are not.
I wouldn't necessarily say that; more along the lines of Ford accomplished what they set out to do, so they were done. From what I understand, Multimatic is now focusing on their business of building customer race cars (they build the FR500C's for Ford Racing) and other endeavors.

Fwiw, the guys at Multimatic run a top notch team, and are really good guys in general. Anyone with hard feelings towards them, are just sore losers

oh, and fwiw, I don't know if anyone noticed, but after test days, our SN95 based race cars were hit w/ a 125 lb weight penalty, despite being over a full second off the fast guys Sometimes I just don't get racing politics . . .

Yeah I saw that tech bullitin that is some BS, but that is with you being able to run the Supercharger, not sure how much that would help though with heat soak and all.

What is with the 2005 listing is it just allowing the steeda panhard bar to be added now or is it taking more away?

Brian,

Could you just say they are now 1999-2002 cars? Maybe have to change the front facia but it could let you use this section of the rules

Ford Mustang
Cobra (5.0)
1998-2002
3.55:1 20.0 3075
Tire size: 275/40/17. Engine: 11mm lift motorsports cam, sleeve or change
block to 94mm bore. Exhaust headers part no. JBA 66255 allowed. Maximum
exhaust size 2.5 inches. Allowed Steeda #307-0099 hood and #307-0005 rear
spoiler. Front brake upgrade allowed

instead of these rules from the tech bulletin 06-01

Ford Mustang Cobra 2003-2004
Effective 01/10/06 through

Well, we got some clarification on the rules change, and thankfully, it's not the same as the conclusion we jumped to, lol (Need a "Jump to Conclusions" mat over here . . .)

Anyway, even though its not written terribly clear, the 3200lbs is ONLY for SN95s running the supercharged 4.6L 4V, not for the naturally aspirated 5.0L 4V, those will remain at 3075 lbs.

Sorry for not being around much the last few weeks, but we've had a ton of work to do to get ready for Daytona next week, and we are all still working our day jobs too . . . Expect to see and hear more in the near future . . .

I haven't heard of any changes in planned TV coverage . . .

Speed has always been bad about getting the Cup schedule up, but never this bad . . . anyway, our Cup races are usually broadcast 2-3 weeks after the actual race, and usually air on sunday afternoon.

Brad, to be honest, I'm not sure, lol. There are still negotiations taking place with a few key potential sponsors.

As soon as we have something to announce, you guys will be among the first to know . . .

Well I guess I missed this thread back the beginning of January, dang!!. I live 20 minutes from Daytona, I was at the BestBuy right by the track and heard the roar of cars but I didnt even think to see what was going on or else I could have seen some of this Mustang action up close and first hand. Guess I missed out on that one!!
