Winter time

Is it ok to put the jack stands under the axile on both sides in the back? I cant put them on the side of the frame because I have a body kit. If not were should I put them to keep my car off the ground thru the winter.

I just leave my car on the ground. I think that jacking the car up was used a long time ago to prevent flat spots on the tires. I don't think that's a problem anymore with the newer tires. Just place a thin sheet of plastic on top of the concrete under the car. This will prevent moisture from coming through the concrete and causing rust to form on the bottom of the car.

Well from reading other boards many people recomend that they be off the ground. I would hate to go out in the spring and have flat spots.

The tires now days will flat spot also. It should be ok to put jack stands under the axel. The axel sits on the tires.

I vote leave it on the ground and drive the car once a month. I wouldn't want that load on my susupension for such a long period.

Man I just dont see how some people can garage their baby all winter. I mean if I lived someplace that had feet of snow on the ground, then I would have no choice, but ive also heard some people say they dont drive it in the rain, etc.

What kind of load is on your suspension when its on the ground? The load or weight has not changed any.

Well it gets down to 20 below here and up to 1-2 feet of snow no way am I driving my Roush in that s#$%. Not to mention the salt. The load I feel will be the same on the tires but if its 1 inch above the ground then there would be no load on the tires.

Personally, I wouldn't want the weight of my wheels and tires pulling down on my shocks and springs for months at a time. Many cars (some very valuable) are stored long-term on their tires in collections and museums. I've owned cars that have only been driven once or twice a year with no problems with the tires.

Of course, this is only my two cents, YMMV...I have no scientifc evidence.

And to be honest, I'll bet you could store it either way with no ill effects.

Probably either way would be fine, lucky that I dont have to deal with that. For a few months, I dont think flat spotting will be a big deal. I once got a car out, it had been sitting in the garage for about 18 years, the tires were flat, yes, and the car wouldnt crank right off, obviously, but we aired up the tires, and no flat spotting, so..

My car sat for three months last winter.Denver had 5 or 6 blizzards in a two month period.I put more miles on my snow blower than my Mustang In the last pic those vehicles were stuck and left stranded, and that was the first blitz.

Yeah, I am really glad we don't have snow here in Missouri...

I had 4 days that my pony actually had to sit IN THE GARAGE...

This coming from a guy in LA.

When the weather looks like this outside you don't really want to take her out for a spin:

Don't get me wrong though, I quite like the winter, especially for the fun things it brings like snowmobiling and skiing. It's just by March I'm ready for spring. Every time I take the car out of storage it's like a whole new car!!

LOL - I'm not here by accident!

I'd still leave it on the ground, though. (People store cars in California too.)
