Wheels and tires prep
I wonder if some car wax would help? I am getting ready to order a set of Shelby CS-69 wheels for mine and may try waxing them.
To help keep your wheels clean during the summer, just treat them like you do the paint on your car (since they are clearcoated...I assume your rims are factory). When I had factory rims I used glaze on them instead of wax since glaze tends to last a little longer than wax does. Made it real easy to remove brake dust.
Bingo! Waxing your wheels is always a good idea, but applying a sealant to them is even better. I also apply a few shots of Duragloss Aquawax every other washing and the brake dust just slides off at wash time. I never use anything other than car wash shampoo to wash wheels so I don't strip off any sealant. Glaze contains fillers and oils and is designed to enhance the look of paint but has no protectant qualities and will wash away the first rain or car wash.
