What do i need to wax my own car???

I am tired of paying $100 every couple of months for someone to wax my car! Can anyone tell what I need to buy to wax and buff my car my self to save me money in the long run? And how often should I wax my car? I live in Las Vegas and right now the temp is 110. Is there also something to protect my car from the harsh sunny days?

I use Meguiars waxes myself. Great products for the price. You can stay pretty simple with just their wash concentrate and tech wax. Every so often use the scratch remover. The best thing other than keeping it clean is a car cover and keep the windows about an inch down. Washing and waxing isnt terribly complicated, heavy detailing is a different story.

This is the kind of thing that can be simple or get out of hand. I like Meguiers stuff too but not the tech wax. What I have been using is the Mothers Syn Wax and top coat. I do mine twice a year and use clay bar before. When it comes time to do it again I still have good water beading. As for sun damage, be sure to keep your leather clean and conditioned. Also just keeping the car clean and free of water spots will help keep the sun from baking contaminates into the clear coat.

This place always had lots of info:

Moved to the car care section where you will find several posts on how to maintain the paint on your car.
