Waxing the car help

Few Questions

I have performance white and am using Meguiars NXT Paste, love the wax. Its easy on and easy off. I was thinking about getting a machine to do it, but nervous about stripping the paint. Here are my questions:

1. Whats the best machine to get the best shine, ease of use, safe and cost?

2. Whats the best process for a white vehicle, right now im just using wax. If I use a cleaner wax, should I use anything else.

ANy other feedback would be great thanks!

this will most likely be moved to the car care section of the forum but ill help you out here. the machine i use is the porter cable 7424. it kicks AS$ . if you use too much pressure it stops rotating so you wont burn through the paint and it is a random orbital buffer which means it oscillates as it spins. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...lindex=0&hl=en
there is a good video on how to properly wash your car. it may be long but it is a real eye opener.

now onto the "cleaning the paint" part of this answer ahahahaha. one website that is incredibly informative is meguiarsonline.com.

that is a link to how to use the G100 dual action polisher. it is the same as the porter cable so dont worry. everything i use is meguiars and my paint is about 98% swirl free. using the portercable 7424 aka the PC does take some practice but it is harder than you think to do more damage than good to your cars paint. if you just google "porter cable 7424", how to videos come right up. i also get all my detailing products from autogeek.net and i only use meguiars.

hope this helps

I have a porter cable and i had no prior experience to polishing or waxing except by hand. The results are much better and you should not have to worry about stripping the paint as long as you keep it moving at all times.

What about the best method for white vehicles? What would I use after cleaner wax?

I wouldn't use anything *after* the NXT cleaner wax. But you may need to use something before, depending on the condition of your car. Once a year I use a clay bar system - either Mother's or Meguiars. You'll really feel the difference - the paint feels like glass afterward. And if there is need for a spot repair on a swirl mark or a fine scratch, Meguiars ScratchX works pretty well.

I also recommend using the Mr. Clean Autodry system. It uses a minimal amount of detergent, so your wax lasts longer. But the main thing is that you don't have to use towels, squeegies, or whatever to dry it - it just dries by itself with no water spots.
