Wax on Black rubber

Well I did it...
I got some liquid wax on some black rubber around the windows.
It has dried and I can see a white residue on the rubber.
Any ideas on how to get the white out of the rubber?

You can also use Mothers Back-to-Black -- that way you won't get peanut butter solids in your trim, and at the same time you'll treat your trim to a nice dressing.

If you need to go one step further, try a detail brush and a strong solution of car wash concentrate in warm water; a step further would be mineral spirits, but you'll want to wash and re-wax if that happens.

Next time use Back-to-Black on the trim before you wax.

There is something called Poorboy's Trim Restore... trust me.

Also stop using the wax that does that. There are enough waxes out now that won't discolor trim.

Masking tape will save you the extra labor.

I've never thought about using masking tape, I'll have to give it a shot.

Or you could just use a wax or sealant that doesn't stain trim?

BTW if you have to use tape use painters tape not just regular masking tape.

I used to mask off. Now I maximize my time by keeping a small microfiber rag and a few q tips moistened w/ quick detail in a baggie when I poish/wax the cars. I don't have to be as careful w/ my PC ROB as in the past. The rag will get the large plastic peices as I go and the q tips are handy in the seams and around the marker lights and emblems.

For use on plastic peices that were whitened and left to dry, use isopropyl alcohol on cotton *****. IDK if it's ok to use on rubber, however. For anything else beyond this scope I've used Black Again w/ excellent results.

quick detailer does a great job, don't use wax remover, it will eat the rubber over time
